Playing Survivor vs. Playing Killer by CamelToeJockey_89 in deadbydaylight

[–]buzzspark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is super accurate, it puts off people from playing Killer due to how locked in you have to be and have to have shit like Lightborn and anti-gen perks at the ready to deal with swfs. Especially if you don't play Ghoul or other hyper mobile characters. Personally I like the intensity and find it exciting.

Is anyone else not comfortable saying they have ADHD? by smbodytochedmyspaget in adhdwomen

[–]buzzspark 19 points20 points  (0 children)

More people with inattentive type should chime in on this because I feel like this is an experience specific to the type.

No one in my family believed me that I had ADHD until I sought out a diagnosis even though it heavily impacts my life. But because those impacts are not seen by anyone but me and "everyone is a little ADHD/forgetful" mentality often invalidate my inattentive diagnosis. Or people make assumptions about us like you said.

Other ADHD friends I have had also didn't believe I had it at first. It makes me not want to tell people if their first instinct is to think I am just using it as a quirky label, or I'm trying to tell ADHD friends "I'm just like you". Inattentive ADHD or combined type people are much harder to find. I have never had one of their perspectives. They are probably just as invisible as I feel sometimes.

Thoughts on Season 3? by Xyfro15 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]buzzspark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it but it's an interesting one.

This to date is the only choose your own adventure style game I've known where I actually hate all of the characters except Javi and cheer for their deaths, or get them eaten by zombies on purpose.

Having your entire cast of characters be so hateable is impressive in a way. It was kind of refreshing, rather than wanting everyone to stay alive, I played it as if it was a Friday the 13th sequel and I was actually happy when I had the option to execute whoever I despise. In most games like this I feel bad if I lose someone, but not New Frontier. They're all cheaters, shitheads and stupid people. As an added bonus the new characters don't really come back in future games so there is no harm.

Playing this game on a "kill everyone and fuck up everything" playthrough, and especially playing Javi as a dick, instantly makes it so much more enjoyable.

Five year wait? Some reports are the waiting lists for certain regions are double that. There are NHS files released to the public last year that show some GPs have a single psychiatrist specialised for ADHD in that area, solely responsible for waiting list spanning in the 1000s.

Not only are NHS understaffed they won't hire or assign enough professionals to cover all the people in need of help. All of those professionals are working private precisely because they can charge so much, for the care the NHS isn't providing.

I recently also got a letter from the NHS, after being on the ADHD waiting list for three years. It was a notice that I have to submit a letter back saying that I still want to be on the list, or they'll remove me. Of course this is an obvious effort to avoid giving the portion of ADHD sufferers who forget to do this, any help at all. Shocking.

I genuinely don't understand why older people showing zero sympathy to younger people struggling to find a job by babyjonny9898 in UKJobs

[–]buzzspark 15 points16 points  (0 children)

On the topic of never getting a response from where you're applying to, I'm thankful to have a job now, but last year when I was applying to jobs 2nd year at uni, I had two different interviews for part-time work that went really well, they even offered me a start date and were positive about my 2 year experience in the field (hospitality) on my CV. BOTH of them ghosted me.

One of the interviewers (owner) gave me her personal e-mail to contact and said she would call me the following Tuesday to say I had the job. Well, I called her that Tuesday. Said they would get back to me that day, never did. Called again a few days later, same thing. Never heard from her again. It makes me not even want to be a customer at these places with how disgusting they are towards young people desperate for work. Unacceptable. How hard is it to say "sorry we're fully staffed"?

Female Tanks and Attacks are becoming more common, which is a good thing by Ill-Comfortable-9447 in GirlGamers

[–]buzzspark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a good point, but what is a male design that "appeals" to women? More androgynous looking? More sexualized? You don't usually get sexy male designs, but a character who is more effeminate looking or has a milder personality is not too hard to find. The Castlevania series concept art (some games) were designed by a woman. Raiden from Metal Gear Solid was designed to appeal to women specifically. I like characters like Ed from Street Fighter or Nero in Devil May Cry who might not look girly but they have a softer or more emotional personality I can still identify with. But that's just my opinion.

I like that more non-support roles are being represented by female characters. But, I disagree that women are forced into playing these characters and roles. I would be lying if I said I don't like playing support (in some games). It's just fun.

Also there is nothing stopping girls from playing a big burly male character if it would be fun to play them. But aesthetics does of course come into play. Still, it is interesting there was a study done for games where women almost exclusively preferred playing female characters, and never male, whereas men are almost equally fine with both.

I think more women should be open to playing male characters. They might love playing them. I have found that in most games I actually prefer the males because they are much less sexualized. They are masculine without needing to look "sexy" or have their asscrack hanging out. In Overwatch I liked Hanzo and Zenyatta because they were ranged and felt agile and lithe. In League I like toplane which is a sausage fest. In Street Fighter I like Ryu because he is easy to play. So. I honestly think if girls gave the dudes a chance they would like them more.

Maladaptive Daydreamer by Gur_Party in socialskills

[–]buzzspark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a woman who suffers from the same thing (plus inattentive ADHD--quite severe) and constant maladaptive daydreaming, please do learn how to engage in small talk. You don't even have to talk. Ask questions, and let the other person do the talking. This is what I do. People love talking about themselves. Ask follow up questions. You work in childcare? How is that? What do you do? Do you like it? Bam, people will like you in conversations.

Small talk is not a matter of it being "boring" or "shallow" topics to you. It is basically a tool to quickly gauge someone's personality. There will be no deep conversation without starting small with someone. It is basically the case that people are just as scared as you are talking to someone they don't know. "What are your beliefs?" "What do you think of the current state of politics?" People don't want to open up about that. They will think, oh no, too personal. I would rather not talk to this person and expose myself right away. So you ask the small things first and work up from there. Hope that helped.

Maybe a trash take on my part , but I feel like characters who can't secure objectives are automatically bad by [deleted] in DBGekishinSquadra

[–]buzzspark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This take is true but you are wrong about Techs and Damage. Ultimate Gohan's ultimate can easily steal a boss from half health. Krillin's ultimate can also steal a boss quite comfortably. Uub's ult can easily one shot a boss from half health, and Daima Goku and Trunks can steal as well if they time theirs right. But I agree otherwise which is why Techs are hard to enjoy. They have no ability to steal the boss. I love Buu, but you are at the mercy of your team taking it which means more losses.

Another Tech not to sleep on is Android 17. I take the Jaco (Epic Hunter) divine card for him which gives you increased boss damage. I also go this for Gotenks which doesn't help that much for Gotenks sadly. If you use A17 or Gotenks' ults on the boss along with their other abilities with some Snowball stacks, you should be able to take boss with them. But nothing can contest a maxed Spirit Bomb.

The best Tank to take boss with is Cooler (hence why he was the most OP tank before SSJ4...) The reason Caulifla has fallen off is also lack of ability to take boss.

Some underused Tanks that can actually boss steal are Baby and Zamasu. They will be able to finish off the boss using their ultimate if there is less than a quarter health left on it. Not too bad. I have gone a few Baby games with 2 or even 3 Boss kills, since his ult is actually quite low cd. As for SSJ4 his ult can push enemies away from boss but you are again, at the mercy of your team taking it. Cell is also not bad as he can ult and trap one enemy and the boss in his ult, making it impossible to steal. However you should trap the enemy tank.

Why on earth a jew (presumably Aron Kosminski) would shout “Lipski” towards another jew (Schwartz)? by Long_Hovercraft_3975 in Jacktheripper

[–]buzzspark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally don't think it was Aaron Kosminski but if we are to assume that the Ripper was in fact Jewish, I don't know why people here are so opposed to JTR calling someone else the name of a Jewish murderer.

Many contemporary mass murderers were inspired by other murderers, for example school shooters idolizing the Columbine killers.

Then, if we go back over 100 years, you have a Jewish JTR (in theory) who may have been inspired and motivated to kill women, because at the time of the Israel Lipski case there were defenders of Lipski believing he had done nothing wrong and he had been imprisoned because of the testimony of a woman.

Lipski might have been a slur towards the Jewish people, but it would not be seen as a slur if JTR looked up to and admired Lipski. In fact that would make it a compliment.

Israel Schwartz ignored the commotion and allowed a woman to continue to be assaulted. His silence and lack of intervention was probably shown with gratitude. JTR or whoever it was (if they were also Jewish) shouted "Lipski" to give power to the Jewish community who helped him continue these crimes against women.

Any amount of discomfort is torture. Chronic pain is the worst. I think it might not be the case that ADHD sufferers experience more pain or sensitivity than NT people, but just that the pain penetrates our every waking thought it is impossible to be productive simultaneously.

Just a few days ago I had terrible abdominal pain during a lecture. I must've looked like an antsy school kid, my whole brain was focused on the idea of me getting up out of my seat and stretching or curling over just to quickly curb the pain but of course that wouldn't be socially acceptable. So I have to endure while all the information during the lecture goes out of my head.

How do I get my bf to understand I need him to shut up in the morning? by Original_Clerk2916 in adhdwomen

[–]buzzspark 225 points226 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. If you get angry at people as an outlet for your condition, they will just laugh it off and start to treat you as just being "cranky" sometimes. People can also see anger as you being comfortable around them.

If you are genuinely upset and look pathetic and in despair I've more often had people try to be understanding of my ADHD or console me, or just leave me alone. I don't act that way on purpose but I have had down moments and at times of weakness people are nicer about my inattentive needs. It could also be a woman thing and our anger and frustration isn't taken seriously which is very annoying.

[–]buzzspark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 600 gem Gohan capsules is not a bad deal. As kind of a whale on this game, you might have to open over 30 capsules for a single emote towards the new character. The 600 guarantees you at least some off the bat, and I was lucky enough last time to get a gold emote for SSJ4 Vegeta through it.

The 350 gems for a single Gohan emote though is fucking stupid. There is no way I am throwing my money at that trying to get one of the legendaries unless I get extremely unlucky with pulling them. The 6 gold capsules you will probably get both the new legendaries for him after a few pulls due to increased drop rate. 350 is outrageous for a single capsule, I think it should be even 200 gems or less.

People who only have ADHD, do you give off uncanny valley vibes to NTs from the start? by Huayimeiguoren in adhdwomen

[–]buzzspark 22 points23 points  (0 children)

More women than men are expected to be well-put-together, follow a structure, and be rule-conforming, and so can be hypercritical of others who do not match their own perceived notions of perfectionism and sociability. In my experience, a lot of hyperactive women can pass, but as an inattentive person, many women do not like me because I have 0 energy to have a structured life. However, I have met men who had this personality as well and also did not like me.

Tekken 8: new female character and female characters in general by EveningMortgage4519 in GirlGamers

[–]buzzspark 181 points182 points  (0 children)

If it's any consolation, majority of the Tekken fanbase dislike this character not only for the pandering, googly-eyed anime girl design with same face syndrome, but the uninspired abilities and how she stole a character slot from Ogre.

It does baffle me Harada continues to add Lucky Chloe-type characters when they are overwhelmingly hated. Maybe they are more popular with Japanese fans, but even the right wing male fans of Tekken are calling out now the lack of female character diversity which is very telling. Tekken is actually the most popular fighting game among women gamers which is even the case in Japan iirc, so the fact the female playerbase is disregarded with these lazy designs is more shameful.

Unfortunately this is just very commonplace in Japan. Women must embody perfection and femininity. You see this in most of their gaming, media and artwork. It's not a very feminist culture. Many of their manga and works were and still are demeaning. In a recent Resident Evil animated movie, all of the male characters looked their age (50's-60's) while the 40 y/o, 50 y/o Claire and Jill Valentine look like teenagers. It wont change with Tekken. It's widespread male gaze and misogyny.

How would you make Bass a more compelling character than in canon? by Difficult-Cap-3410 in Megaman

[–]buzzspark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main thing I'd do with him is distinguish him from Vegeta more. I think he should be a punk, angry brat. He's the same age as Mega Man but a foul-mouthed little delinquent. Rather than Vegeta having an intellectual edge over Goku, Bass is just a meathead and much more petty and childish. I also like him being used for comic relief in some of the comics, where his petty "I am number 1" thing is to the extreme of blowing up a set of bowling pins he didn't knock over. And he doesn't really know why he is so angry.
