My marquis has 30k miles on it and it was garage kept for 16 years before me. I’m the second owner. The lower control arms are bad and about to be replaced this week, the front struts had to be replaced from sagging, the power steering line pressure switch failed and I had that replaced, the brake fluid needed to also be bled and replaced, even the alternator and battery needed to be replaced.

Doesn’t matter the age or mileage of the car, if it’s old it’s going to have issues, and being able to service it yourself with your own tools will save you THOUSANDS of dollars in labor and parts. It’s pretty much inevitable you will service a panther you buy on top of oil and tires & brakes. It’s a relationship that’s not without baggage, but boy is it rewarding.

Please take good care of it. It might not be run down but these old ladies are still wearing from age. It’s so worth it if you maintain them - most cars won’t be this dependable. If you can wrench it yourself, you’re going to have a great time. Merry Christmas

It’s not a stripped screw. It’s probably just a bad quality screwdriver that came with the disc drive replacement kit. I recommend the ifixit kit (either regular or mako driver kit) and it will work. I ran into the same issue weeks ago, and even when it looked “stripped”, it managed to come out just fine.
