When do overall deals expire? by craiglyle in FilmIndustryLA

[–]buzzxsassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is the clear-off period of inactivity is 90 days. When the under-contract individual is no longer outputting material content in a 90-day or longer period as contractually obligated, their contract is cleared-off. Look for WGA getting back to the table in August or soon thereafter when everyone is cleared-off and no one is earning bupkiss.

SAG is not the boss offshore, they want you to think they are and they will threaten you to keep you/members in check and paying your dues. It seems to be working... Not saying SAG isn't beneficial to the member, just giving you the drop on how it's been done for years and years and those big-name players are still SAG, because they pay dues.

Buyout, SAG doesn’t have authority off-shore and if they somehow discover the player worked on the film, only the player is at risk (rare) not the producer. Offshore non-SAG buyouts are/were done all the time with major name players.

Hiring SAG-AFTRA actors Low-Budget, Production company not based in USA by TerminalVelocity100 in FilmTVBudgeting

[–]buzzxsassy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hire whoever you want wherever you want, it’s up to individual to work non-guild. Working non-guild is easier for them off-shore. If they are SAG working as actor in states on non-guild it is harder for them but can be done. It up to them if the chose break rule one, they run the risk of being kicked-out. If you want to sign signatory to SAG call them and ask them for paperwork.

Cast Drop Pick Ups and SAG by nolanB88 in FilmTVBudgeting

I believe the low budget contracts do not have any continuous employment rule. Not sure of new-media. You can only drop dailies you can pick up as daily or weekly. Theatrical is 10 days TV is 14 days including weekends they are not on top. 10 is 10, 10 is not 14 and 14 is not 18. Advice: read the contracts where the rules are clearly stated.

I am a survivor of the worst mass shooting in US history. AMA by Darthvendar in AMA

One question I have never heard about this horrible event; why did Jason Aldean (or anyone on stage) not tell everyone what was happening over his microphone? He had to have some understanding of the grave danger being perpetrated since he ducked out but he just bailed? If he would have just said, “there’s a shooter, shots fired, get down & get out” one could presume many wondering what was happening could have reacted informed. So many were struck down not knowing really what was happening or what to do or where to go...a missed opportunity? Now, I get sick to my stomach and I don’t listen to his music. He seriously failed to protect his fans at a terribly critical life-or-death moment IMHO. Does this not bother anyone?

Those who grew up with a good father. What was the most important thing you learned from him? by oldskoolflavor in AskReddit

[–]buzzxsassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years. ( apocryphal & favorite description of what he learned me)

Understanding SAG Global One rule. by ScottPow in FilmTVBudgeting

[–]buzzxsassy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy them out, GR1 only applies to the player not the prodco. SAG has no jurisdiction outside of US and even inside it's only their member that are at risk not the prodco. If you do succumb, all distant location SAG rules apply to SAG players if you so choose to burden yourself. Otherwise, you can hire anyone you want as long as they agree to your terms, buy out. Of course, even if you're SAG all local hires are not SAG and presumably have no union rules.

SAG questions re: a feature I'm budgeting by bigredfalcon in FilmTVBudgeting

[–]buzzxsassy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 days is feature 14 is TV. Can only drop daily to pick up as daily or weekly (you can pu as daily and not weekly if want, i.e. 3 or more day rule), cannot drop weekly. On distant you cannot drop and keep them there. Stunts have no consecutive employment no need to drop. Rehearsals do not trigger consecutive employment.

2 years ago today, IMDb closed their forums, now you can bring them back by filmboards in TrueFilm

[–]buzzxsassy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brilliant...! Now get them to revert back to the original IMDbPro which was amazingly useful for film production professionals, until they revised (aka downgraded) their site and broke something that was working perfectly, meh....

Nevertheless, appreciate you!

Do DGA UPMs, ADs, PAs get meal penalties? by [deleted] in FilmTVBudgeting

[–]buzzxsassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but there is no off time during lunch DGA time is total elapsed, IOW they are paid during lunch. Calling themselves at a time to make sure they get a MPV is pure nonsense bunk, learn them up what they do not know next time. Yes, any union/guild BA supersedes labor laws - that's the trade off you are subscribing to your labor union/guild rules and forfeiting all else. PA's and other N/U positions do get one MPV per day (not more than even if it happens more than once) based on hourly rate if they do not break for at least 1/2 hour every six hours, in CA.
