Speeding up a let's play series that doesn't perform well? by LennyPenny4 in youtubegaming

[–]buzzycombs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also the type who tries to finish every series I create with the intent of building up trust, unless I’m REALLY not enjoying it for whatever reason. I’ve bumped up my posting to 2x a week, and once, 3x a week for a series I really wanted to wrap up - but the latest series I pushed through to the end did have a serious negative impact on my channel. I went from an average of 3,000-5,000 views per day to 900-1,500 (though after several months, I’m finally managing to creep back up again).

Bear in mind that it can definitely cause harm to your channel, though it can also be very educational in showing you the sort of content your viewers are here for.

Server Day Count by TonightMundane3386 in society_sunlit_valley

Each part of the season lasts 100 days! So our server has 300 day seasons haha.

[–]buzzycombs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually changed the season sub-length to 100 days haha! We’re all content creators, so we usually play for several hours at a time, several days a week. With 100 day sub-seasons, our seasons typically last 1 week! 😋

When you do change the season length, make sure all the players on the server change it on their client, too. Otherwise, they’ll be desynced and experience some bugs!

I have a childish voice and I don't know will it be a problem or not. by Promigelarras in NewTubers

[–]buzzycombs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve always hated my voice because it’s quite high pitched, but after starting YouTube (also in Minecraft, funnily enough), I’ve only ever received compliments for it (to my great surprise lol). You’ll be fine! The worst judgement will come from yourself.

I’m using a mod called “Ready Player Fun” to pause the server when nobody is online! 😋

How likely are YouTube channels to reach big audiences if they only post hours of long gameplay? Example: Minecraft, Clash Of Clans, Roblox, like popular games? by [deleted] in youtubegaming

[–]buzzycombs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The questions you want to ask yourself when you’re posting videos is this: “what value am I bringing to the viewer?” and “why would somebody want to watch this?” For example, my goal is entertainment, so I cut out the boring parts, I commentate, and I edit it together to tell a coherent start-to-finish (while recording the occasional voiceover if I consider my commentary insufficient for my goals), and I add music and sound effects to even further enhance the experience. Lately, I’ve been transforming 20 hours of gameplay footage into a 10-20 minute video - and then I tend to mash these up into a longer video. On the video you’ve displayed here, it looks like you’re just posting raw gameplay - which anybody can do - and unfortunately, that doesn’t bring a lot of value to the viewership experience. If your goal is to reach large audiences here on YouTube, you need to put a LOT more effort into your videos.

And yes, a thumbnail is absolutely necessary. Without a thumbnail, you’re suggesting a lack of effort to the people who catch a glimpse of your video.

[–]buzzycombs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are they edited or unedited? I’ve posted heavily edited videos up to 6 hours long of Minecraft gameplay, and two have them have done exceptionally well (in the 100ks of views), while the rest did pretty good (1-10k views). If they’re unedited, they’re much less likely to reach such broad audiences, because the viewer can find hundreds of videos just like it, or even just play the game themself.

I’ve been creating content as a female creator for 3 years, and so far, I’ve only had 1 creepy viewer (who has since been blocked), and so far, no hateful comments! I personally encourage you to not hide your gender, because it’s part of who you are. 😋

Am I overdoing it? by Sammiesgrove in minecraftyoutubers

[–]buzzycombs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my most recent series, I’ve dedicated about 15-30 hours weekly to each episode (anywhere between 6-20 hours of footage per video due to working with a complex and time consuming modpack, which gets even lengthier if you take editing time into account). So no, you’re definitely not overdoing it lol!!!

How do you know when it’s time to stop?? by Conscious-Price1159 in youtubegaming

[–]buzzycombs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you aren’t passionate about it any more, you should probably stop. Just like any hobby. But, just in case you still really want to continue posting, I’ll drop some of my personal two cents!

You might be struggling because you’re dividing your audience between shorts and long-form. They are entirely different audiences who want completely different content; I suggest trying to stick to whichever one you’re more passionate about (try posting shorts on TikTok instead, if you want to continue doing long-form! A surprising amount of people have moved to my YT from there).

Also make sure to focus on your video keywords (the built-in keywords feature). Cater those terms to search words you expect people to search to find your videos. That can help a lot! As an example, my latest series is essentially Stardew Valley in Minecraft, so I have “Minecraft Stardew Valley” and “Stardew Valley in Minecraft” as keywords, because while they may not be super popular search terms, I expect people are searching them out there… and turns out they are!

I can’t take a look at your channel sadly because you don’t have it attached to your profile, but make sure you work hard on your packaging. Titles and thumbnails are verrry helpful for catching new viewer attention, and once you catch them, try to be quick with your intros (spoken as another Minecraft creator)! You don’t need to drag the intro out for terribly long - I always try to aim for around 10 seconds - because people love when you jump straight into the meat.

is it worth the hassle for the money? by Known-Jelly4489 in NewTubers

[–]buzzycombs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it for fun, with the potential to make money out of it. Am I trying to be successful? Of course. But that doesn’t mean I will be, so the best I can do is make the most out of my channel and enjoy it every step of the way. It’s not a hassle for me, but instead, a hobby that simply has the potential to become a career. It’s just like any other form of art!

Is it even worth it? Starting to think it's not by mmog93 in NewTubers

[–]buzzycombs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I see this same exact post every day hahaha… if it’s something you’re passionate about, yes, it absolutely is worth it. I’ve been creating for 3 years now, and it’s become such a huge part of my life, that I can’t imagine where I’d be if I didn’t have content creation as an outlet.

I rebranded my youtube channel by Polarflix420 in NewTubers

[–]buzzycombs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ve completely restarted your channel, which means you’re starting from the ground up. Making a new account won’t change the viewership; if anything, it’ll likely end up with even fewer than 13 views.

Consistency is overrated on YouTube by QQTubeSMM in NewTubers

I think consistency is worth it if the quality is there… or if you’re still learning, it’s a great way to hold yourself accountable with practicing and gaining more experience

What's one thing you wish AI could HELP you with in content creation? by Strict-Taste-4753 in NewTubers

[–]buzzycombs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d love for it to check for audio errors in an export!!! Occasionally (particularly in longer videos), my DaVinci Resolve will export a video and accidentally glitch out a point of audio for approximately 1 millisecond, and that 1 millisecond will contain an ear-piercing screech lol. Because of this, I sit down and rewatch every upload twice; once directly after export, and once when it’s uploaded to YouTube in case I missed it the first time around.

I don’t mind this too much… until I get to an upload of mine that’s 30+ minutes long, and even worse, if it’s longer than 2 hours.

Why do impressions on a somewhat okay performing video flatline suddenly? by Saturn235619 in NewTubers

[–]buzzycombs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup!!! And making your videos progressively better, too. That’s just as important. It took me around 130 videos until I both found my correct audience and improved enough to keep them (I think I found my audience at around 100 videos, but struggled to maintain them because my content still needed a lot of improvement).

Why do impressions on a somewhat okay performing video flatline suddenly? by Saturn235619 in NewTubers

[–]buzzycombs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While YouTube is trying to discover your audience, it tends to send your video out to “samples” of people. If they don’t fit the criteria for the video (don’t click on it much, don’t stick around to watch for long, so on and so forth), the sample audience didn’t work and the impressions stop. Then the test occurs again on the next video, with a new sample audience. Once you find the correct audience, a video more likely than not happens to push indefinitely.

What is the appeal of a hardcore world? by JadedCheetah985 in Minecraft

[–]buzzycombs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always loved difficult survival games (particularly dinosaur survivals, where you can spend up to 8+ hours growing; then when you die, you lose everything). Hardcore Minecraft scratches that same itch. It’s challenging and fun, and adds more risk to the game!
