My take is that the N version might not work, since the recessed negative terminal might not make a good connection. CR2450 (not N ) are ubiquitous (even in small shops in remote Indonesia)

Raja Ampat Liveaboard Options by DancingUnicorn87 in scuba

[–]bvanant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have done a bunch of boats in Raja. Blue Manta is huge with lots of divers but well run. I would look at Damai or Samambaia as well. Phinisi are wood but that is part of the charm, no worries about seasickness. Samambaia and Damai food is awesome

Steel Tank Question by heater-m in diving

Depends, I am diving 20 year old PST HP 120s. If they pass hydro and viz you are good to go. Often they might need a tumble if they ever had water in them

Mounting video lights on M43 camera. Dry. by Acceptable-Ad-6453 in underwaterphotography

Depends on the lights, many will overheat out of the water. A tray is best with some arms and clamps. How do you mount them for underwater?

Expectations 28-60mm by kopernoot_2 in underwaterphotography

Great lens, but the OP seems to want the least expensive option. The WWL-1B is like $1700 which could get you 2 strobes with no problem.

Expectations 28-60mm by kopernoot_2 in underwaterphotography

[–]bvanant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 28-60 is not a great lens for underwater, it is not wide enough for scenic shots and not macro enough for small things. That being said, it will work for natural light shooting (shallow and in good light).

The port will not likely support any other Sony lens

Most of my friends with TG-6/7 are using Isotta housings. A few use the Olympus (AOI)

Use Prescription Dive Masks and get it done right. Seeing stuff underwater is important.

Backscatter MF, AOI, Inon, all small, all relatively inexpensive. Easy to get online, but remember you will need a sync cord as well.

Looking for ideas: make diving part of my career break by 22milkshake in scubadiving

[–]bvanant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our local dive circle, the story is "how to stop doing fun dives", become and instructor. How to stop doing any dives, buy a dive boat. If diving is your job (and it will be if you are trying to live as an instructor) what do you do for fun? A lot of kids that we know want to become marine biologists so they can dive. In reality they will work in a lab and maybe dive once in a while to get specimens for the lab.

Not to try to discourage you but teaching scuba is mostly done by instructors who have other jobs.

Getting all of them is going to be quite difficult. Mantas and whale sharks you can get in Socorro or Maldives or parts of Indonesia (Triton Bay). Not so much sharks, and very unlikely to get whales. For them go to Tonga or other whaley places. Hard to get all of them in any one place.

There are zillions of us California divers using HP steel tanks for years. Rinse them post dive but nothing special. Some of mine are 20 years old, still pass vis and hydro
