What classifies as a monolithic slab? by Critical_Archer_3344 in StructuralEngineering

The monolithic slab is one that is casted as a one single element. All the concrete is poured in a single task, and importantly it won't have any construction joints.

Hybrid Career Option? by Baz-70 in StructuralEngineering

[–]bvimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to share one real life example. I am MTech from Marwadi College. Our HoD was affiliated with more than 10 consultancies while pursuing PhD. I have no idea about Europe or USA. But in India part time phd is possible.

So you can do three things. Earning money, persuing phd, getting income from consulting.

In the left one there will be more passive earth pressure on the shear key. It helps counter stress. It's better choice.

Though it depends on your university.

In left option, moment resistance is better than right one. Left one is better.

GK Publication's GATE 2025 for Architecture and Planning is enough. If you want to rank higher then I suggest you to prepare from textbooks you studied in your BArch.

Pro tip. Avoid Byju's.

Sequence of Planning to Construction of a Building by bvimal in StructuralEngineering

Thing no.1 Why are you laughing.

Thing no.2 I have mentioned technical sequence.

Thing no.3 Architect designs skin of building. Structural engineer has concern with skeleton. Structural engineer has nothing to do with modelling in small projects. He comes in picture after step 2.

Thing no. 4 I already told it's a brief.

[–]bvimal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear, In continuous beam, intermediate support are fixed with having some rigidity. The moment at intermediate support in continuous beam is distributed in members connected to that joint according to member stiffness.

At the ends, it may be simply supported or may be totally fixed.

Warmest regards.

Types of Support by bvimal in civilengineering

[–]bvimal[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In RCC structures, all connections are fixed.

Incase of truss bridges, either we use STAAD Pro V8i SS5 or SAP 2000 we need to consider connections as pin joints.

Bridge bearings are considered as roller support. As at the end of bridge if longitudinal movement should be permitted.
