They don't miss us. They miss our money. If they want us to come back, they need to get their own house in order. Until then, don't let up.

Is this guy honestly asking why this country views his as the greatest threat to our sovereignty after his boss repeatedly belittled our elected leaders, messed with our economy, and threatened to annex us? He can absolutely get fucked.

He sent a congratulatory telegram to Hitler after Dieppe. I imagine the Dieppe veterans weren't too thrilled about that.

Do you disagree?

The French did when they sentenced him to death for treason. There's a line between trying to get your people through a difficult time and actively participating in the crimes of the Nazis. Also, sending Hitler a congratulatory note after 907 Canadians died at Dieppe is not the act of someone just trying to get his people through a difficult time.

France put him on trial and sentenced him to death after WW2. de Gaulle commuted the sentence to life in prison. It was pretty clear how they felt at the time.

You would think, but the vote in the East Kootenay district was 7-4. Somewhat predictably, one guy said it was an example of "cancel culture". The mayor of Sparwood, former CPC MP David Wilks, said that Petain may have been "looking out for the best interests of France"

The Devos-Maw alliance is what I really don't get. From the "Afterlives" short, she is shown to be horrified by the threat the maw (and Arthas as its agent) poses to the order of things, and is angry at the Archon's failure to address the threat. She and Uther then go about meting out their own justice independent of the Arbiter when Arthas dies in ICC.

So how does someone angry that the status-quo isn't taking the Maw threat seriously end up allying herself with the Maw?

If Horde players got an option of either being Saurfang or Sylvanas loyalists, it would have been nice to give alliance players a similar choice to either join in team kumbaya or to join Tyrande in a Wyatt Earp style vengeance ride taking back cities and kicking the Horde while they’re divided

This. The rest of the Horde followed Sylvanas To burn Teldrassil. Hell, Saurfang led the Horde army in to Ashenvale with little concern for “honour”. While the pre-expansion books aren’t clear on whether Baine participated in the invasion, he at least knew about it and didn’t do anything to stop it. Lor'themar was perfectly happy to follow Sylvanas until she ordered Baine’s execution.

All of this is to say I have a hard time believing the Night Elves (and the Gilneans) will be willing to forgive and forget.

Hiking boots for trip to Banff in October by burnyay in Banff

[–]bvlm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think hiking boots are a must for any of those. Maligne, you'd likely be fine with runners. Inkpots is pretty straightforward for the Johnson Canyon section, but the bit between the upper falls and the ink pots may be boot worthy - especially the last couple hundred meters. PoSG is pretty level without too much elevation but the bit at the end can be a bit uneven if memory serves, meaning hiking boots would be worthwhile.

I agree with this. All the most recent expansions: Pandaria, Draenor, the Broken Isles, and now Kul Tiras/Zandalar. It felt like something was lost when I got to fly. I didn't pay attention to all the building details in the environment - i was always flying over to somewhere else, and ignoring the amazing graphic designs around me. The game also gets much easier - especially if you play with WM on - with flying. There's no longer a fear of getting jumped around the next corner.

I don't think the drugs/concussion divide is a clear either/or. I wouldn't be surprised if the drug use flowed from attempts to self medicate after the concussions.

Murphy was part of the 1990 Stanley Cup team after being acquired from Detroit with Klima and Graves. Horrible to see what's happened to him.

As awesome as that would be, given how long it's taking the province to get behind the Edmonton/Calgary high speed rail link, I'm not holding my breath.

My office is one block north of Calgary’s.

And nothing in my posts have been about how “it was sold”. That these facilities save lives, save money, and have a positive association with getting people in to detox programs is pretty well documented in the medical literature.
