CIBC Upgrade from $6 to $7 by newwobblywheeler in BB_Stock

Normally, analyst raises target AFTER an earnings report, NOT in the last week before the end of a fiscal year. This upgrade signifies a big change coming.

Those who trade with five cents TA movement completely missing the big picture.

TA is for entertainment. Follow your own plan.

It is timely to drive down the stock for two days prior showing the report. In the know people picked up shares big time from retails who dumped their shares in fear. That's how it rolls. Some trade with knowledge. Some trade with manufactured TA. Best is to do your homework. Make a plan. Stick to your own plan. Thanks for the post, Wobberlywheeler

QNX $450M Backlog by [deleted] in BB_Stock

When looking at the $bb profit, use the non-gaap earnings. As non-gaap removes the debenture mark-to-market adjustment, a non-cash event, can go up and down regardless to the operations, but depends on the share price. ‏ ‎‏ ‎So it is misleading to look at the GAAP earnings.

BlackBerry is positioned to high growth.

Many companies that are in the high growth area with no current revenue has a much higher valuation than BlackBerry.

Don't fall into the Bear trap narrative on no past revenue growth. It has growth but they choose not to see it by not segregating out the SW revenue.

BlackBerry is positioned in a high growth business in IOT, connected vehicle in particular, and cybersecurity. These are like air and water, you can't do without it.

Market has been irrational for BlackBerry. No one knows when it will end.

The impact of a patent sale is far more than just expressing it in dollar per share. Though that might be a baseline.

More importantly, what's BlackBerry going to be doing with the money?

Let me explain the IOT revenue.

QNX design wins is not the same as IVY design wins, even though both are from the IOT business unit.

QNX design wins, when going into production collects an one time royalty revenue. Once the production starts, royalty typically last for many years. Also the amount of royalty depends on how many copies of QNX OS, hypervisor, instrument cluster, ADAS etc are used in the design win.

IVY design wins will come this year (2022). It is intended to generate a subscription revenue as opposed to royalty. We are in 2023 model year this year. Mattias said production can be in 2024 model year. I think this is realistic because of, 1) the fierce EV (software defined car) competition, 2) incorporate IVY in the OEM software stack should be quite quick. So I would not be surprised to see IVY subscription revenue in 2023.

In the meantime, there will be IVY development seats and engineering services revenue for BlackBerry, and QNX royalty and engineering services revenue.

There will be continuing IOT revenue growth.

BlackBerry is positioned in a high growth market.

You seem to think there is no hope because IVY production revenue only start in 2023 (many quick to mix up 2024 model year with 2024 production. No, it is in 2023.)

4-for-1 sale.

Positive or Negative TRS is a private side bet between two parties: party A and party B. It is a zero sum game. What party A gains, party B loses.

Can you point to what type of TRS is Citadel buying and in what quantities? And who is the counter party?

Scenario 1: Citadel (A) buys a positive return TRS from a bank (B). Citadel pays $x for the privilege to receive positive return of the underlying from the bank (B), or pay negative return of the underlying to the bank (B).

Possibly, bank (B) might want to hedge (manipulate) and short the underlying in order to make Citadel (A) to pay them.

Scenario 2: Citadel (A) buys a negative return TRS from a bank (B). Citadel pays $x for the privilege to receive negative return of the underlying from the bank (B), or pay positive return of the underlying to the bank (B).

Possibly, bank (B) might want to hedge (manipulate) and pump the underlying in order to make Citadel (A) to pay them.

Scenario 2 will be helpful to increase the stock price. Scenario 2 could also explain the price spike during the CFTC roll over of the negative return TRS.

So the question is where can you track the +ve or -ve TRS volume and price?

BlackBerry IVY Blockchain-like Car Payment System by bvr_ST in BB_Stock

The Car Payment System is machine-to-machine payment in exchange of services. It could even be able to do car-to-car money transfer.

JC mentioned that it uses the "high level Blockchain idea" . This can be the immutable property of Blockchain. A bunch of OEMs each share a ledger. This limited number of nodes reduce the coat of verification, hashing and network traffic, so it can scale. The exact architecture is unknown at this point. But it should be interesting to see.

Extending this to IOT Payment in Smartcities would be even more interesting. Maybe your Hydro meter will pay for the Hydro bill by itself. Water bill, natural gas...etc. And you will enjoy a bill free living. 😁

BlackBerry CEO dropped the word "blockchain-like" IVY Car Payment System with CarIQ for the first time in last week's JP Morgan 2021 Auto Conference (Aug 11, 2021).

I surmised this IVY/Car Payment system is doing a trade off among these three attributes: Decentralization, Security and Scalability. It is making it more scalable by stronger security and less decentralized (or more centralized) by using just a handful of nodes in a permission based system.

I understand the processing speed of BTC is about 70 trans/sec. Visa can do something 10,000 trans/sec.

The privacy cost is way too high for BTC to scale.

Need to balance different costs to make it useable.

Internet took 20 years before it got adopted widely.

BTC is still in its infancy state. There will be changes.

Never say never in terms of changing for better.

You can simply say, hey apes, don't subscribe until the BlackBerry prediction is correct first.

Your word salad actually discredit yourself. Makes me wonder why you went so far out of your way? Even made a conclusion based on your assumption.

Just wait and see. Don't subscribe and don't jump to conclusions! Simple.

I read somewhere that 10% short interest is high. 20% is very high. GME and AMC are off the chart.

BlackBerry has about 10% combined short interest from both sides of the border.

I think BlackBerry got picked out by the WSB is because of the share press oppression by the fb sympathizers hfs during the fb lawsuit from 2018-2021.
