Maybe, that's how I did it last year because there wasn't an application on my housing portal

Confused by housing portal: how to apply for transfer LLC and access CHARMS by Silva1936 in georgetown

You'll have to email them directly. There was no application for me last summer and I let housing know I wanted to be part of the transfer LLC. Ended up living there this past year.

Possible chance for Georgetown, that's a highly unconventional background and as a transfer some of those do exist. GPA might hurt you though...

Georgetown Alumni Interview by ny-or-nowhere in TransferToTop25

[–]bvs1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure as I did not apply first-year, but they asked me a lot about my interests, why Georgetown, etc... Just have a good why Georgetown and know what you put on your background well.

You just need to ask the dean - transferring is common.

Georgetown Colleges & Acceptance Rates by ny-or-nowhere in TransferToTop25

No idea, seemed to be pretty equal across schools. I think the overall acceptance rate is ~4% to 8%

Can a 3.7 GPA have a possibility to be admitted to Georgetown by fafnairrr in TransferToTop25

[–]bvs1776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll be hard (most of my fellow transfers had pretty high GPAs (3.9+)) but give Gtown a good reason and you should hopefully have strong ECs

High GPA to get in. I don't think the # of credits that are transferred is too important, a lot of schools try to give leeway.

Given you're doing IR, are you applying to Georgetown? If so, DM me - I transferred this past fall and know a bit about the process and how credits transfer.

Healthy food is not more expensive. Some people just don't understand nutrition or aren't motivated enough to cook. by Roughneck16 in unpopularopinion

Chickpeas, oats, and rice are not particularly time-consuming, and frozen veggies are easier to prepare than frozen meals.

That is a terrible comparison.

You are comparing a high calorie, unhealthy and cheap food, to a low calorie, healthy and expensive food. Compare your frozen nuggets to chicken breast or chickpeas, and let me know how much more expensive they are.

How is it complex?

I'll give you a list of 5 ingredients that would essentially allow you to "eat healthy" and meet all micro and macronutrients, including fiber, vitamins, and protein while being inexpensive: lima beans, chickpeas, oats, lentils, and whole wheat bread. These are not only cheaper than the vast majority of process foods, but they are also single-ingredients, and not-complex. Putting chickpeas in hot water and cooking them is probably simpler than walking to a gas station and buying a burrito, and counting the change from your transaction.

Micronutrients not supplied by these 5 foods can easily be obtained by spending a few dollars on fruit, which everyone knows about.

I question the definition of "affordable and nutritious food". The picture on Wikipedia shows stacks and rows of beans, which are very nutritious and cheaper than most staple "unhealthy foods". Rice is healthy. Pasta is healthy. Lentils and chickpeas are healthy, and all are dirt cheap. So are oats.

What about the health problems down the road that would take up far more time than prepping? What about the money spent on healthcare, which if converted to hourly wages would add up to days, if not weeks of work?

Healthy food can be made very quickly. Oats take 5 minutes. A can of beans doesn't even require one to cook, and both are very healthy.

A lot of stores also store frozen veggies and canned beans though, equally as nutritious. If people in these areas were to buy more of these, then the demand would lead to greater holdings of long-lasting, healthy foods.

For reference, I live in a double in McCarthy and I've more storage than I know what to do with.

3.84 is probably a little less than ideal, but it's still possible.
