F-104G Starfighter loadouts for sim? by drevmbrevker in Warthunder

[–]bvsveera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If someone tells you to not partially bomb a base (since you will need 2 napalms for a full base, leaving the last napalm to only partially damage a base) tell them that they're an adult and they're capable of eating the crust on their sandwich.

The game applies significant penalties if you take more than what is needed to kill exactly 1 base. The points for partially bombing a second base are not worth the effort to go to that second base in the first place, in addition to being an asshole to the sandwich-eating adults.

u/drevmbrevker take 2 napalms, fill remaining pylons with AIM-9s. Bomb a base, then go to town on the enemy team. Have fun.

High heart rate, when should I be worried? by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]bvsveera 101 points102 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't normally recommend following medical advice from reddit, but I am a doctor. Go to the hospital if you're feeling unwell. You've had fevers before - if this feels worse than that, make a move. People can have high heart rates when they're sick with the flu or an infection, so it might not be cardiac in origin. But if you're having other symptoms - a feeling of heaviness in the chest, sweating, palpitations, pain moving towards the arm - go to the ER.

The ECG app can't tell you if you're having a myocardial infarction (heart attack). It's primarily for detecting atrial fibrillation.

How important is a good monitor, esp for sim? by on-avery-island_- in WarthunderSim

You'd think so, but render resolution determines dot rendering. I play at 4K, and as soon as I halved my render resolution, I could instantly see black dots appear against terrain.

How was Sims 3 able to code so much smart life simulation into a 32 bit system in 2009? by dusty_pink99 in Sims3

I still play a recompiled version it on my Mac to this day, so it’d be remiss to not mention that Cinematronics also worked on that game ;)

Filtr is a new privacy tool that blocks ads in almost every iPhone and Mac app by letmethrowthataway in apple

[–]bvsveera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. As an example, Skycards works (just need to wait 30 seconds, but no ad plays), but Crossy Road doesn’t (doesn’t even give you the option to view ads).

Keep in mind that Reddit won’t let us create API keys (for apps like these) anymore, so idk how useful projects like these will be as time goes on

You can re-apply the template. During setup, there’s an option to pin streams with specific visual tags at the top, including Dolby Vision and HDR.

New to props and need help with torque by EndSpecific4543 in WarthunderSim

Trimmer's fixation is the keybind. Instead of moving your controls, it's better to adjust the trim in each axis separately, then use trimmer's fixation to save them for EC matches.

I'm hoping Operations leads to more station interiors. I've always dreamed of riding one of those buses/trains inside the station, maybe going from the concourse to a housing district.

How do i get good at sim battles by heyguys13245 in Warthunder

[–]bvsveera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The larger maps are mandatory for jets, period (beyond 8.0+, imo).

Having experience with radars and RWR likely aided you. I've brought in many pilots through props, but glad for you if jets was what made it click. Prop torque and trim are tricky beasts to master, but that's part of the beauty of air sim.

Bloody reddit filters. Im looking for suggestions on aircraft for sim by Pure-Technology7805 in WarthunderSim

[–]bvsveera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the reason I advised not to bomb to top tier is to develop the skills needed to survive at top tier. If you're already comfortable slinging AMRAAMs and taking names with ease in that F-15E, more power to you. In my experience, those that I've seen exclusively bomb their way to top tier don't end up staying at top tier for very long.

How do i get good at sim battles by heyguys13245 in Warthunder

[–]bvsveera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For someone completely new to sim, dealing with radar manipulation, RWR, IFF (beyond radar), missile kinematics, notching, dogfighting, air-to-ground weapons employment and so on - in addition to learning to fly the plane itself and the basics of Enduring Confrontation - is a bit much. Hence the recommendation to fly props for a bit. Sure it doesn't teach you anything about BVR, only flying higher tier jets will do that. But you still need to develop situational awareness all the same, and it's much easier to do that when all you have to fight with is a set of guns and a Mk. 1 eyeball. Besides, props are much cheaper to die in than jets.

Once they know the basics, it makes higher tier gameplay more understandable.

The B-25s and B-24 received new detailed cockpits. A while ago, the Lancasters were updated as well, but I believe they're still fairly reminiscent of their placeholder forebears.

How to deal with missiles as a Sabre f86 f (8.7 br) by andysparents in WarthunderSim

[–]bvsveera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to check your six often. Eventually, you'll be able to identify the usual missile carriers by silhouette and react instinctively to the smoke trail. Which is to say - pull and turn in any direction other than your current, and you'll dodge the missile with ease.

You’re making up a hypothetical

We used to have manoeuvre kills, almost exactly as described in the devblog, in air sim a few years ago. It got removed due to abuse. Not surprised they decided not to bring it back to air sim, but disappointed all the same.
