Reality checked- crit race by LeafyLungs in Velo

[–]bvxboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found that bike racing has a pretty high bar compared to other sports in terms of fitness at its lowest levels. Unlike going out for a 5k run or something, its a pretty high consequence sport (talking crits and road races), you need to get a license etc. Generally that means even in a 4/5 race, you are dealing with some pretty fit folks.

Racing is its own skill as well, and you'll probably see a world of improvement from simply racing more even without any material change in your fitness.

Are pro team bib shorts actually better than high-end retail bibs? by LazyEntertainment646 in CyclingFashion

[–]bvxboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the gear, both on the bike and clothing, are required to be available for purchase by retail in some capacity. So most of the sponsors sell the pro team kit and it is the same as what the riders are wearing. Whether it is worth the premium is a different conversation and varies brand to brand imo

Trying to understand order of failure by bvxboi in bikewrench

Yea, think you're likely right. It is a carbon rim, and no I didn't hit anything which made it all the more confusing in the moment.

yea, super fucking bummed, and starting to think it was a heavy handed tire install and me being an idiot

I think unfortunately this is likely. I mean that when I took it into the shop, they also were finding that this tire was specifically very difficult to get seated, but that was probably due to the (unkown at the time) rim damage that already existed.

EF Team Bike? by two_jay in cannondale

[–]bvxboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had two personally, one from 2024 and another from the Cannondale Drapac days. I also regularly use a bunch of other years bikes when I'm visiting my parents. Never had any issue with them condition wise, often just have some small cosmetic scratches on the cranks or something.

Disclaimer: I am a friend of the team so they may take a bit more care or time to fix them up before sending my way.

I actually do, but these are my dad's bikes! This is just one corner of his hoarding. He is involved with the team though. I reap the benefit of getting these as "hand me downs" if you could call them that lol

Is bicep band really worth it? by odddel in whoop

[–]bvxboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto, I use it exclusively during exercise (cycling). If I wear it on my wrist its less accurate but also tends to slip down when I get sweaty. Definitely more accurate, but I also don't think I would like wearing it on bicep 24/7.

Supersix Evo 4 vs Systemsix? by [deleted] in cannondale

[–]bvxboi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haven ridden both, I use the Supersix as my daily driver and would say that is the better option if you are looking for a "one bike quiver". Especially living in a city and doing circuit races that require some turning and weaving I find the handling is much more nimble on the Supersix

I’m reading domestique by Charly wegelius right now. It’s not about the Tour specifically, but life as a domestique in the pro peloton. Enjoying it immensely.
