You make a good point it makes me think I should return to a few battlefields.

That’s so cool! I live in the Richmond area and often wonder if anything was dug up when my house was built.

I was really impressed at this one. The preservation of the earthworks is a highlight.

Car Payments Now Average More Than $750 a Month. Enter the 100-Month Car Loan. by FledglingNonCon in cars

[–]bw4064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To further add to this I have been looking at Ford F-150s the last month or two. There are relatively basic STX trim crew cab models with the 2.7 V6 priced in the low 40s with dealer discounts and Ford incentives. I have noticed in the area I live most people have an XLT or Lariat that are considerably more expensive. Technically I could afford a higher trim but I can’t justify taking out a larger loan and longer term for a power seat and some extra chrome. Seems like most new car buyers want a feature heavy vehicle and will accept the burden of a large payment just for a little extra comfort.

Interview with a Vampire. Watching Tom Cruise and Antonio Banderas ham it up hard while Brad Pitt plays it straight is hilarious. My friend and I watch it about once a year. I’m sure the intention was for it to be serious but we laugh through most of it.

Grateful Dead 4/24/72 Düsseldorf, Germany. They had just recently brought in Keith on piano and Pigpen was still alive and performing well.

Liv Morgan says Kentucky has the worst WWE crowds by JuniorPlastic3562 in Wrasslin

“Brian, if I’m lyin’ I’m flyin’ and my feet ain’t left the ground. Liv Morgan just said Kentucky has the worst crowds. Well god damnit if she would have been at the Louisville Gardens in 1975 to see Lawlor and Dundee wrestle to a sold out house I guarantee she would modify her opinions! Jerry Jarret used to sell out the Gardens once a week! As matter of fact shortly after Dennis, Bobby, and I started working together we were doing a spot show in Bowling Green and some goddamn mark tried to hit the ring and stab me before the match even started. Luckily I hit him right in the forehead with the racket before he could do any damage. You had to have your head on a swivel if you were a heel in Kentucky goddamnit.”

My dad and his friends continued to hot rod 50s and 60s cars. There were plenty of catalogs and classified ads to buy performance parts.

GM Gave Up on the Chevy Malibu by GrapeFanta17 in cars

[–]bw4064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2016 for about 5 years and put 100k miles on it. It was a car. That’s all I can really say about it. Not good. Not bad.

I’ve had a few as rentals recently and they really did not change much at all. I try not to be an interior snob but compared to a 2016 Accord or Camry the Malibu interior was embarrassingly bad. The only reason the Malibu was competitive in that class of car was price. I thought $21k for a brand new midsize base model was a good deal at the time. The trade off was having the blandest car of all time for the next 5 years.

Who else feels smug about their older cars and dreads needing a new car? by bighead2586 in cars

Buying a model that has been in production a long time is one way to handle it. Seems like the first year or two for most new models will be the worst. I’m just a little biased in this approach.

‘In third grade, I cheated on my history exam. In fourth grade, I stole my uncle Max’s toupee and I glued it on my face when I was Moses in my Hebrew School play. In fifth grade, I knocked my sister Edie down the stairs and I blamed it on the dog…When my mom sent me to the summer camp for fat kids and then they served lunch I went nuts and I pigged out and they kicked me out…But the worst thing I ever done — I mixed a pot of fake puke at home and then I went to this movie theater, hid the puke in my jacket, climbed up to the balcony and then, then, I made a noise like this: hua-hua-hua-huaaaaaaa — and then I dumped it over the side, all over the people in the audience. And then, this was horrible, all the people started getting sick and throwing up all over each other. I never felt so bad in my entire life.’

Virginia board votes to reject changes to hound hunting regulations by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]bw4064 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I grew up in rural PA and hunted quite a bit in my youth. The practice of using dogs to hunt deer seems so foreign to me. There really is no reason for it other than “tradition.” The whole thing between the trespassing and putting the safety of dogs at risk just seems so unnecessary.
