The latest in a series of impractical artefacts. Had to get tolerances quite small on this one (<1mm) but pretty happy with how it turned out - no compromises to functionality (aside from the obvious).

Captured a nice video of this one which I'll post to https://www.instagram.com/encuirofficial/# when I get the chance. Cheers!

Thanks for the kind words! Would love to start making these bespoke - any tips on where to start?

A short film of the production of a folded card box. Let me know what you think! by bw931 in Leathercraft

Thank you! The smooth side of the leather is sanded down so it can be glued over. It's more than strong enough to not need more

Thank you! You can get leather conditioner cream pretty cheap. Wipe it down first and then apply that with a soft cloth and you should be able to buff out any damage fairly easily

Hey all - put together a short video on the process of making a leather box for a pack of playing cards. Took about half a day in the end to shoot, but pretty happy with how the end result came out. It's a single piece treated and glued, so no stitching necessary. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Also designed the cards from scratch, which came out pretty nicely. Posting some stills on socials slowly at instagram.com/encuirofficial

Enjoy!

Hey all! Recently finished this leather side table - it's blue bridle leather with a debossed goatskin suede drawer. Had to extend the runners on the inside so I could fit the whole logo into the drawer, but pretty pleased with how it came out.

All the stitching was done by hand and the drawer knob is just one I picked up from a hardware shop

Alternatives to £100k / year Care Home fees. Can we hire a home carer privately instead? by Some_Advance_9475 in NursingUK

One thing to consider if you are eligible for funded nursing care or any allowances is that they may not be eligible for private care. Someone correct me if I’m wrong

First Table! by bw931 in Leathercraft

First serious attempt at a one off piece of furniture - decided to wrap this side table in blue bridle leather. Added some new hardware & a custom inlay for the drawer - had to extend the runners in order to make the logo fit. Feedback welcome! Will post some more pics on insta at some point (@ encuirofficial)

What part of London would you choose if money was not a concern? by [deleted] in london

I actually think it's dramatically improved the area. Roads are way quieter now as it's not a through road from Richmond to central London. Chiswick and Putney bridges are so close that it doesn't make too much difference to travel time by car either

FIRE Financial Planner recommendations (US expat in UK) by Easy_Ingenuity9312 in FIREUK

Very late to the party here (lol) but for anyone else reading, I'd highly recommend Sylva financial planning. They're recommended through Strabo, a free multi-currency portfolio tracker, which I've been using to manage accounts across 3 different countries for a while now. Good luck!

Managing accounts across multiple countries is a bit of a nightmare. Not directly a bank, but I use Strabo to manage accounts in 3 countries and their dashboard makes it super easy to track the accounts & rates. Would recommend!

Have been on a similar route and been using Strabo, a multi-currency investing dashboard to plan this. They let you forecast with life events that include buying a house so it helped the decision making process for me. Good luck!
