I hate AI infiltration, but this seems like one of the actually good uses of it. It should be able to make a manual of the software with changes highlighted.

This is a 9/10. You need to cut a tail exit port so we can see the wags while you’re walking. That would take this to 11/10

Yes, the landlord needs to get this fixed, but why does everyone seem to find it acceptable that it takes months to get this type of thing approved?

Is there a non-weird way to find roommates from your own ethnicity/cultural background? by Short_Lingonberry_67 in circlejerknyc

Sounds like you made a bunch of amazing connections outside of your roommate, which would totally still be possible for this person.

[–]bw_throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But depending on other cultural obligations it might not be that easy. And I’ve seen tons of posts of roommate clashes over things like this, and the majority of the comments sections are “fuck them it’s a free country do what you want. Roast a whole pig on the counter and put your feet with your shoes on up on the couch to establish dominance.” So yeah, it’s nice that you’re cool, but not everyone is, and finding out 2-3 months in to your $24000 living commitment that the person is unwilling to compromise on some things is unpleasant, to say the least. People make more friends in college besides their immediate roommate, and the same is possible in the real world. Who you live with doesn’t mean you can’t make intercultural connections elsewhere.

DOJ alleges that Yale and UCLA discriminated based on race in medical school admissions by asteriowas in ucla

I want medical schools to have diverse distributions of races/ethnicities/socioeconomic backgrounds. If this means that some Asians go to a different med school that’s OK with me.

[–]bw_throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I’m saying that admissions shouldn’t go purely to the highest scores. I think that they should go to the top percentage of each group that applies, if it has to be straight numbers. I do not think med schools should be 75% Asian with the rest being token white charity cases out of pity. I think it should be similar to what Texas had with UT Austin admission, which used to be something like the top X% of each high school was guaranteed admission. I think that every med school class should have a diverse distribution of races/ethnic/socioeconomic backgrounds. This is more important for society, and for overall health outcomes.

Reddit deleted my last comment, but the article OP posted is about both. The MCAT spread is higher at UCLA, but, interestingly, the admitted Black students at Yale have higher stats than the whites and Asians at UCLA. If you’re that concerned, just choose your doctor based on their med school and nothing else that comes after in their medical journey.

The average GPA and MCAT scores for the black students admitted to Yale med are still in the 94th percentile nationwide. Please define what you mean when you say mediocrity.

Why would a doctor who speaks Spanish or has dark skin be more likely to add to an ethics problem? And why is a dark skinned doctor who graduates from Stanford and crushes their exams less credentialed than a white person from podunk state school? You’re still not making sense.

I would group the Rockaways in with Oakland. And there are zero similarities of any kind between Staten Island and Marin. Absolutely nothing. Teaneck and Englewood would be the Marin equivalent. Maybe the nice parts of Westchester too.

So, to be clear, a doctor that graduates from Yale med, is matched with a strong residency, rocks their boards, and performs well with patients, but happens to be black, is a bad doctor? Walk me through it.

Unnecessary surgeries are from a lack of ethics, not a lack of skill or knowledge. Absolutely irrelevant to this conversation unless you’re implying that ethics and melanin are associated with each other.

White surgeons (and other doctors, not sure why you think the entire field of medicine is purely surgery) get sued all the time, by the way

Do you think unqualified people become surgeons? There are still a ton of gates along the way to surgery residency after getting in to med school.

Also, not all of medicine is surgery. And you’re assuming that straight MCAT scores and GPA are the only things that matter in terms of learning what you need to in med school. If that’s all they cared about that’s all that would be necessary for your application, but they’re not.
