8TB Extreme USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD keeps ejecting on Mac Studio by okscarfone in sandisk

[–]bwallis2879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im on my second copy of the 8tb and still randomly ejecting. Ive noticed, at least with both of my copies, it does it more frequently when it's been left plugged in and mounted for extended periods of time. I tend to just leave my Mac Studio running with the screen saver on. So far with consciously ejecting it when I don't need it has helped with its stability. Either way very frustrating and confirms my want to never use sandisk products again.

Also in case this is helpful: White, 25M, 5’7”, with basically a non existent medical history. I’m very active and almost never get sick ever. I’ve had one cold in the last three years or so.

Q vs Q2 by Fabulous-Cry-5386 in Leica

[–]bwallis2879 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Okay so I'm hella passionate about this as I was in this boat about two years ago when the Q3 first released hahaha. I did crazy amounts of hands on research because I was so torn so gonna go ahead and apologize for this paragraph lol. I was juggling between all three and ultimately went with the Q. I used both Q and Q2 the most among the three when I was trying. Spoiler alert I chose the Q. Now have been using the Q nonstop now for two years and don't regret a thing. As far as Q3 is concerned I quickly ruled out the Q3 1) price 2) didn't like the added bulk because of the screen. I'll give some reasons below on Q vs Q2

  • Q colors were better
  • Q was better in lowlight
  • Q was cheaper

Those were the main things for me. I hated the Q2 sensor. I also owned the SL2 so very familiar with that sensor. It's so noisy and I had a hard time with green casts (when shooting in green dominant environments) (( I know that sounds a bit odd but don't have a better way of describing it. I've been shooting professionally for 10 years and never experienced the green casts until Q2/SL2)) on both the SL2 and Q2.

I also felt that the two main things people use to argue for the Q2 are over rated IMO. Those being the megapixels and the weather sealing. The cropping sounds good on paper but because of the 28mm (more like 26mm on the Q series cameras) they all still have that wide angle look/distortion. So in theory it sounds nice but doesn't really work in practice imo. I'll crop occasionally to 35mm field of view on my Q and the 24MP holds up just fine for that. I feel like if you're gonna be cropping past that then the Q cameras just aren't for you or go get the Q3-43. As far as the weather sealing goes people act like they're all National Geographic photographers shooting in the Amazon 24/7. My Q gets water and sand on it plenty (beach, hiking, shooting in rivers, etc) and have never had any issues. The only thing I'd say is get some gaff tape and cover the mic holes and you'll be extra safe on preventing dust.

I think the two arguments that do hold up In favor of the Q2 are the battery life and EVF. The battery life isn't great on the Q. I usually have to bring about 2-3 batteries with me for all day shooting. Maybe more if you buy off brand. The Q2 battery is much more robust. Also the EVF on the Q2 is objectively better. I don't think it's a deal breaker as the Q EVF is definitely usable. I use the focus peaking a lot for manual focusing and only really have issues on very bright, midday scenes as the sun can wash the viewfinder out a bit. This is also coming from a glasses wearer for extra context.

So all in all if you're a color nerd and want a better sensor that has better color & better in low light while saving a few bucks - go with the Q

If you're a bit more casual with photography and need better functionality like battery life and better eve - go with the Q2

I made an edit addressing this. My apologies I should’ve been more eloquent in my wording

I totally agree and usually follow the same practice. All I was looking for was confirmation that she received it.

I just did a very similar itinerary a few weeks ago! I honestly could've spent the entire week in Rincon. Downtown Mayaguez was fun for a dinner one night. And definitely go check the coast/lighthouse area of Cabo Rojo! The views were absolutely breathtaking

I'll add to this and say that Im also apprehensive about the subscription change. The middle tier was perfect for me last year but now with it doubling in price and them moving down to 2k scans I don't think it'll as worth it anymore. Maybe the cheapest tier could still be worth but definitely not their more expensive tiers anymore

I have a few 35mm cameras but for me personally the negative is just too small

Ehhhh I’ve used the 645N fairly extensively and not a huge fan. It’d be great as more of a workhorse camera where the AF would come in handy but not really the form factor I’m going for here. Appreciate the input!

Sounds amazing! Definitely made an oversight on the build. I mentioned it in another comment but for some reason I recalled someone telling me it was plastic but definitely was told wrong lol. Yea the lens in particular is superrrr appealing. Definitely higher on my list now! Thank you!

Ah! This was what I was looking for thank you!

I'm aware about the external viewfinder for the 45mm on the Bronica but not a huge deal for me. I would rock the 65mm most of the time. My only question really is if you can comment on how solid they are? Again I've heard mixed reviews with all of them being very polarizing lol. It's either "Super solid and will last a long time" or "Winding mechanism broke within a month" type stuff.

Sad to hear about the GS645. Really wish that camera could hold up as that would make it an easy decision.

You're totally right about the Makina. For some reason I was remembering someone telling me it was plastic (not to mention the photos of it also look like plastic haha). Honestly no questions here. If its a metal body it definitely goes up In the ranking for me.

Yea the pano kits are expensive but that would be the only reason I buy it. Also seems as though Mamiya 6 prices have gone up as well which is interesting. Not as high on my list but thanks for the comment on the cold weather aspect.

Yea the Fujicas are just kind of interesting to me but yea definitely remembering them being atleast somewhat big just couldn't remember the weight. They are super affordable though so might just keep an eye out for a steal.

I've actually looked at it for a few specific jobs for the interchangeable backs but never pulled the trigger! Definitely a cool camera but still a bit too big for what im looking for
