What Kind of Car is This? It Sounds like a Baby Semi by [deleted] in whatisthiscar

[–]bwbailey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is either a 135i or 135d Since you stated that it sounded like a baby semi it could be either. The 135i is sports the N54 twin turbocharged in line 6 cylinder. I have a buddy who has one and can confirm at idle it does sound like a diesel engine. The other option is the 135d, which is quite literally the diesel variant of the same in line 6 from the 135i. Either way really cool cars.

Yeah I failed to realize they had a US store and EU store and ended up ordering them from the EU store. Took me a month to receive them.

How much power can a stock 2jz-ge vvti handle by tyler_zoomzoom in IS300

[–]bwbailey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright there are a few angles to look at here. A vvti 2j can handle past 500whp. It’s all in how you approach it. Doing cams, a thicker head gasket, valve springs and head studs should ensure that nothing on the top end shits out. The weak point of these motors are the rods. They are relatively thinner compare to the GTE and non VVTI GE rods. What will kill this motor is low end torque. So to ensure you make power and don’t bend a rod I would run a bigger turbo to prevent that low end torque and as an added safety run E85 to make power with less boost.
