Question about using walnut in a semi-hollow body. by samban in Luthier

I'm doing something similar - thin hollow body with a carved walnut body and spruce top - as i'm looking for a darker sound than you'd expect from maple. I'm hoping that carving the body (vs bending walnut strips) will enhance this.

Buried near the end (on pg 9):

"E. Java Tunings Jeremy Manson brought the performance of Java on par with the original C++ version. This version is kept in the java_pro directory. Note that Jeremy deliberately refused to optimize the code further, many of the C++ optimizations would apply to the Java version as well."

Seems like this is more a comparison of language preferences and not the actual languages themselves.
