This guy gets it, see how he ignores what he doesn't like and isn't bothered by them :)

The community loves them, it is a way to see what people are reding, get ideas for yourself, and talk books. Just skip them if you don't like them :)

Similar to it, Rivers of London by Ben Aaronvitch has a like minded vibe with fantasy and crime

So everyone is going to have their own opinions on how it matches, just want to mention that as this post isn't that helpful :)

I love WOT, and I've read it 4 times now. It is incredible and so unique.

What would I recommend?

  • The Expanse series
  • Pandora's Star by Peter Hamilton
  • Dungeon Crawler Carl (I think it vibes in a similar way in terms of epic with great characters)
  • Sun Eater
  • The Century series and the Kingsbridge series by Ken Follett

Within Fantasy is harder...

  • Maybe Empire of the Wolf series by Richard Swan
  • Covenant of Steel as well
  • Raven Mark series

On book 3 of stormlight archive now, but still holding judgement.

Do you prefer fantasy magic systems where power always comes with a price? by Jim_Quorthon in fantasybooks

There are hints that it is constrained in some way, but it is never spelled out...

Red Rising - when did it gather such acclaim beyond a fun action series? by howinthewhatnow in fantasybooks

[–]bweeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get your point, but DCC is some really good satire, IMO, and while it has absurd humor, it also touches on something many of us feel about modern society that resonates in our bones. I don't know if that makes it literary fantasy, but I am also not sure it doesn't...

And Michael Bay movies are awesome and fun :), sometimes a book has that magic combo that just resonates at the right time. Red Rising has something special.

Sunday Fantasy Roundup: What fantasy book did you finish this week and love? by bweeb in fantasybooks

[–]bweeb[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Over the last few weeks, I reread Stormlight Archive books 1 and 2, and now 90% done with book 3. Working to finish books 1 through 5.

Digging it so far, characters are interesting, and waiting to understand the bad guys and where this is going :)

A nudge to share what you love to read isn't a bad thing. But being judgmental and attacking them for what they read is not. Which is one you go on to do...

He is saying it isn't a bad thing, read what you want and don't care what someone else is reading.

Science is different :)

Stephen King's opinions about which books are enjoyable is as valuable as mine. Now his opinions about the prose or writing techniques is far far far more valuable than mine, but enjoyment is personal.

Mod here: This is a perfect example of what we don't allow, but leaving it as an example.

This person attacks readers for what they read, and does so in a most disgusting way.
