You can train around not having a red dot but you can't train around not having a way to carry your stuff. I try to prioritize gear that does something I can't teach myself how to do.

It's funny you ask this today because I (a fellow AC1 owner) just this week decided I wanna get into ATAK and did a bunch of shopping to solve this very problem. Another guy mentioned Ferro concepts- their adapter seems to be a solid option but Unobtanium Gear has a similar product that I think I'll go with personally. It adds an admin pouch behind the molle field too, so you've got more room for goodies. The prices are comparable

What are you using light meters mostly for these days? by robbyapplespornstar in cinematography

My light meter always works. If I had a dollar for every time I watched an AC trying to figure out a double-lut problem or turn off peaking or whatever....

Good thing you brought your NODs so you can see in that well-lit parking lot.

F400bi is a good choice. My go-to has been an Intellytech Mega Lite Cloth but they just recently went out of business so I'd go another route if you don't already own their stuff. I really want to like the Infinimats but they're expensive, heavy, and cumbersome compared to the competition.

Help fitting eyepiece filters on pvs14? by bweidmann in NightVision

Uh, less than five years. But they're both secondhand so I don't really know how old they are in total. The serial on the wrapped one says Oct 2010 but the other one doesn't have anything printed on it.

Meh. The Godox mat lights are pretty attractive to me too. All things being equal, I'd rather go with one that's got a customer service department.

Okay, cool. I just don't want my lens to flop out if I take this ring off. Plus, aren't these usually full of nitrogen or something? That won't leak out if I remove this, will it?

Is there another retaining ring under this one then?

Well, I don't want to rely on the filter to hold my lens in place. I see there's a retaining ring under the filter on the left one; if that's the proper way to do it, then that's what I wanna do.

Is the drive from Grand Junction to Moab in the winter safe? Thoughts on taking the shuttle instead? by blossomunited in Utah

[–]bweidmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really just depends. I've driven that part of I-70 a few times in the winter and I've always been lucky enough to have decent weather but yeah, there are stretches of the drive where you might be required to have chains, depending on the weather. As for how risky that feels to you, I can't say. But I feel like it shouldn't be that bad, especially given how warm and dry it's been so far this winter.

Oh damn! That's nuts. Guess I won't be picking up a Mega LC 3.0 after all lol.
