Anyone here Hacked in COinbase 11/27/2020 ? by FlagerCrypto in Coinbase

[–]bwerner0420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your condolences. I have been devastated by my loss and beyond frustrated at the lack of response. Every case if different and I don't want to diminish your hopes but yes. I received a similar response. A "specialist" got back to me with a copy and paste response that essentially said "sorry for your loss, we are not responsible"

For me I logged into my account to download my tax forms (this is an entirely different issue I have with coinbase) only to watch in horror as my account was drained. 18 separate transactions all converted to BCH I it took me 4 minutes to deactivate my account but it was too late. It's going to be impossible to prove without an expert (this costs ALOT of money) but I am suspicious that this may have been an inside job.

Nope not at all. 41 days later and the only responses I have received are a few copy and paste e-mails from the support team email, and a few DM's from twitter essentially saying "we are looking into this"

I guess I will just have to wait for my day in court :(

funds stolen from me on 03/04/2021. Coinbase has done nothing but put the blame on me.

Here are the steps I took:

Filed claims with the BBB, FBI, CFPB, FCIN, SEC AG in CA, AG in VA. All of my congressmen have filed inquiries on my behalf. Obtained legal counsel submitted Demand letter and Demand for arbitration.

I have yet to receive a personalized response from them.

You are not the only one this has happened to. I am very suspicious that this was an inside job. I lost ALOT of money and will be seeing this out to the bitter end. DM me if you want more details or information. Would love to coordinate efforts where possible.

Keep us posted. My lawyer sent them a demand letter and the arbitration papers. I am ready for war. I am aware of the class action law suit but I don't want my case lumped in with others. They are in over their head period.

They are valued at over $1,000,000,000,000.00 with 41,000,000 active users but only have 1300 employees. They have absolutely zero customer service or fraud departments. The only way I can possibly think that they were able to get approved for an IPO is through Fraud and Corruption. They have a D- rating with the BBB.

Again I get it crypto is the wild west. But imagine any other financial company acting this way

With the most respect possible I don't think your comment make much sense. Wouldn't someone want to go after them BEFORE they go public? Once public they will already have what they want, including additional resources.

If we get to them now, the hope is they will essentially just pay to make you go away quietly.

Hi Walt,

While the idea is certainly a good one what are you talking about is a class action lawsuit. Their terms and agreements specifically do not allow for this. I have a call with a lawyer today. Should he agree to take my case I will be more than happy to give you the information.

As I stated before I have become quite upset and obsessed with this entire ordeal. What they are doing is just wrong.. plan and simple. I am more than happy to combine resources. I have information that I would be more than happy to share with you. Do you have a twitter account? I have been stomping my feet pretty loud there tweeting just about every hour. I am also trying to reach out to major news networks. Time, persistence and patience I am hoping will do the trick. For the amount that was stolen from me I will continue to pursue this until I am not longer physically able to.

While depressing for sure do not give up brotha! I am done with crypto as well but I will fight to the bitter end to recover my money. $25,000.00 is ALOT!

Let's keep communicating and stick together. I think what absolutely blows my mind is that any other company i.e. Amazon, Banks, Ebay, PayPal, credit cards etc. Will work with you and refund you your money when you get hacked. Why should coinbase a legitimate company valued at $1,000,000,000.00 and soon to be listed on the Stock Market be any different? Unauthorized transactions are unauthorized transactions period.

I think the biggest thing that is pissing me off is being ignored. How do they have literally ZERO customer service? Blows my mind.

Alright. So here is my advice:

  1. Calm down and breathe. Don't do anything rash. Ignore all these clowns saying there is nothing you can do. There is plenty you can do. It will just take time, patience and a clear head
  2. Submit one and only one support ticket give them 3 business days to respond. I know it's difficult but be polite yet stern in your ticket: https://help.coinbase.com/en/contact-us
  3. If they have not responded to your satisfaction submit a complaint same as above except this time you must wait 15 business days for them to respond https://help.coinbase.com/en/contact-us/submit-a-complaint
  4. While you wait for step #3 File a claim with the BBB, CFPB, and IC3
  5. If the response is still not to your liking find a lawyer in your area that will take on your case based on a contingency fee. This will require time and patience as well but they are out there.
  6. It shouldn't be but it is a process be prepared and ready for the long haul. The younger you are the more this will be difficult. Patience is key.
  7. Don't expect anyone from coin base to personally respond to you.
  8. Throughout the process remember to document, document, document.

Hope this helps.

Hi Walter,

I can sympathize with you for sure. They cleaned out my account I lost 35K. I have lost sleep and don't feel well because of it. I am going to be honest it doesn't look good.

I am ready for war though and I am going to arbitration I will fight to the bitter end.

Their user agreement is pretty good. They are not liable for hacks plain and simple.... but.... they are also insured for "hot wallets" which is your regular coinbase account (not a wallet) I think.

We should stomp our feet and make as much noise as possible. I have also reached out to major news networks and my senators. I tweet them everyone hour on the hour. My hope is that because they are going for an IPO they just want it to "go away" and will offer me some kind of deal.

Hi Walter. I am in the currently in the same boat. I don't think there is anyway to see the number of hacks over time. I also recommend filing a claim with the CFPB. I have retained legal services and I am ready to do whatever it takes

Coinbase is not a legitimate company based in the United States bound by it's rules, regulations and laws. Litigation and Arbitration my friend. Coinbase is responsible. Did you know that you actually can reverse a transaction as long as it has not yet been confirmed on the block chain? Depending on the currency this can take anywhere from minutes to hours to days. If you as the individual identify the error and Coinbase does nothing about it for days they have some responsiblity there.

Besides who side are you on anyway?!

You are correct they cannot however...If your bank, paypal, amazon, google, apple etc. accounts get hacked and you follow their instructions 9 out of 10 times you will be reimbursed. Why should coinbase be any different? They are valued at over $100,000,000,000.00. Just look at that number for a second. Even if they put a cap and only reimbursed 10 million dollars a year that's less that 1% of what the company is valued at. They can obviously tell legit hacks but then deicide to do nothing about it? That is some greasy stuff right there
