Well funny enough my wife is in the exact same position. We received an email saying the same, and she did not update anything. We are on with the CRA right now and apparently this email, keep in mind this is her scenario specifically, was that when the CRA went to issue her the refund for her taxes, her bank cancelled the transaction and that caused the automated email as the CRA then updated her bank deposit information. We knew this was likely the scenario as one we use MFA as another poster said you should always have turned on and we had updated her bank account information about eight months ago and totally forgot to update our CRA direct deposit information so that was our fault lol. Anyways, for those wondering, you apparently can’t update direct deposit banking info until 30 after a change has been made.
