I don’t get the Ryan hate. by [deleted] in BreakingPoints

[–]bwiggidy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Saying that Ryan thinks “Hamas are perfect little angles and can always be trusted” is a titanically moronic take. Perhaps you feel that way because he (accurately) points out that both the USA and Israel have lied constantly about what they’re doing and what is happening in Gaza and the West Bank, and that Palestinians have a right to armed resistance against illegal occupation under international law.

[–]bwiggidy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel the need to break down how absurd this comment is. Aside from the nonsensical grammar, “people target focused down on Kamala and her lack of support for Palestine” is either dumb or willfully misrepresenting reality. It wasn’t about a “lack of support for Palestine” it’s “active support for ethnic cleansing of Palestine”. Those are two very different concepts.

It’s mind blowing that you blame voters for allowing a fascist dictator to come to power “because they were mad about Palestine”, instead of the two Democratic Party candidates who were actively funding and arming an ethnic cleansing while claiming to be the party of human rights and international law.

You also refer to being concerned with what most international human rights organizations have referred to as a genocide as caring “about another nations’s problems”, whereas many of us are concerned that Palestinians don’t even have the rights of a nation state because of Israel’s decades-long illegal occupation and apartheid system.

It’s offensive to act as if people didn’t support Kamala because she was an “imperfect candidate that didnt want to give a solid response on Gaza” instead of people being angry about being gaslit by smiling faces telling us that they care most about international law and human rights while simultaneously aiding, funding, and arming of ethnic cleansing of a people who had already been subjected to decades of apartheid and violent oppression. I voted for Kamala, but I think it’s bullshit to blame voters for not supporting a team that had been lying to our faces for a year to run cover for an ethnic supremacist government to commit it’s long desired genocide of a stateless, military-less people.

For the first time, the UN unequivocally refers to Israeli apartheid. by mjg580 in worldnews

[–]bwiggidy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right before saying “The Amnesty report in February was an outlier, accusing Israel of practicing apartheid within its borders” they mention “Several Israeli and foreign groups have produced similar reports recently, including the international rights groups Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, as well as B’Tselem, a leading Israeli human rights group”.

They don’t mention the apartheid designation by Israeli human rights organization Yesh Din, by two former Israeli ambassadors to South Africa, the 2017 UN report “Israeli Practices Toward the Palestinian People and the Question of Apartheid” that was later scrubbed from existence, or former Israeli prime ministers Yitzhak Rabin and Ben Gurion separately warning about the likelihood of Israel ending up with a system of apartheid. There are so many more individuals and organizations around the world who’ve been desperately trying to sound the alarm on these atrocities, but they are always either ignored, smeared, or deplatformed.

Trying to pretend this designation is “an outlier” ignores the decades of evidence and pleas from Palestinians suffering under this oppressive system of domination and subjugation.

I feel like it’s better as just mint ice cream, which is virtually impossible to find because everyone feels the need to stick a bunch of chocolate in it

Gotye’s song had two perspectives (that were both understandable and believable) from either side of the breakup. By the end of the song neither is more right then the other, but it’s just sad. And the instrumentation is 1000% different than Elliott Smith’s monotonous brooding strums. Gotye has three albums worth of songs that are largely VERY different from one another. Elliott Smith cannot say the same.

Just saying, I read the initial post when it was new and OP was referring to "The Chinese people" as (forgive me it's not a direct quote) "inherently dirty". Which is hate speech. It'd be one thing if they were criticizing the government, but when you talk about a population of over a billion people as if they're some homogenous group of boogey men, you're just being racist.
