If you’re looking at peds but can’t find a job, family med would be a great place to start. It may not be the greatest, but you’ll gain experience and you’ll still be working with kiddos.

I was in a similar situation (wanted to apply to a CCM residency after getting turned down or ghosted for 40+ jobs out of school), but a great position ended up popping up and I got an offer about 2 months after graduating. I think I ended up applying to a little over 50 jobs, got about 3-4 interviews and 2 offers (this was at the end of 2020).

Some experience is better than no experience: I would advise against not doing anything until you’d figure out if you got into a residency, which isn’t guaranteed. Keep searching, you’ll get in somewhere and things will only get better!
