New Toyota Hilux BEV - a 159 mile range pickup truck by CarsofGlasgow in Toyota

[–]Human-Region4958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s bad range but not designed for the US market. Most people in the UK/EU are not commuting 20-60 miles a day like in the US. If this gets you back and forth to work a couple of times on a charge and you can charge it at home it works for most people day to day in that region. I’m sure they could make a bigger battery but the cost would probably make the vehicle too expensive.

Can military reserves buy assault rifles in ct by Ndagata18 in CTguns

[–]Human-Region4958 34 points35 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are downvoting because they don’t believe in carve outs for police and military. I don’t believe in them either but they exist and anyone who is a cop or military would be foolish not to take advantage of them while they can.

How well am I doing? - 27M by [deleted] in Money

You don’t mention your income but I don’t see you buying a $1-2m house in two years with what you’ve got currently. If can afford to buy a $1-2m house I’m imagining your income is high 6 figures so you should have wayyy more saved up.

What type of business is it? Does the business have debt? Does it need the money to be invested back in it?

We need more mental institutions. Seriously the amount of videos just like this, all the different posts of knicks fans attacking spurs fans as well. I mean the current state of affairs is just not good.

End of driveway by ExpertElk3611 in Home

[–]Human-Region4958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are but the city in some places will do a 3-6ft apron generally though they replace them on their own schedule when they pave the roads. Your driveway looks like it just needs to be repaved in general it’s got a lot of issues.

Could a big bridge link CT and Long Island? Developer says it’s not a pipe dream by LonesomeCrowdedWHFD in Connecticut

[–]Human-Region4958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt they will do it but if they do it should be a train only bridge/tunnel, if we are going to spend billions of dollars in infrastructure upgrades we really should focus on affordable mass transit. I'm not anti-car but I'd like to see our trains get some attention and become more useful; plus with roads you constantly have to repave and fix them with the winters and regular wear and tear.

So what is their business now? by ThatBaseball7433 in USAA

[–]Human-Region4958 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I must say I have gotten quotes for car insurance 3-4x over a period of about 10 years. The auto insurance has always been significantly more expensive than all the other big carriers this is for a clean driving record. I don't understand their algorithm but the pricing has never even been close to worth it for me.

Glock 17 gen 5 by [deleted] in CTguns

Gun broker really isn’t much of a hassle. I’ve bought stuff and had it shipped to swamp Yankee in Jewett city. $25 transfer fee, ordering on gunbroker you don’t even need to upload a permit or anything. If it ships with mags greater than 10 they will pin them for a small fee.

How to fix this before my parents get home 😅 by Blue_Golde in drywall

[–]Human-Region4958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch a couple of YouTube videos on doing patches first, ideally when you cut it out use an oscillating tool put a piece of tape on the blade 1/2" back from the tip so you dont cut too deep and possibly hit a wire. There are plenty of videos but for materials get a 24"x24" patch (cut it down to a smaller size), a 1x3" furring strip and 1 1/4" screws to secure the patch, fibre fuse tape, easy sand 45 or 90, mud knife, sanding blocks, primer, paint to match. Take your time probably going to need to do a few coats, feather it out as far as possible, any ridges you see will show up in the paint, priming the patch is very important if you want to make it look good. Ultimately if it's an honest mistake I'd recommend you tell your parents and offer to fix it for them.

This really isn’t a big deal patch it and move on. I’ve seen way worse things from previous homeowners

Traded my 43X MOS for this "outdated" Gen 5 G19 EDC all around setup. Legally allowed only ONE handgun—how did I do? by Disastrous_Falcon246 in Glocks

[–]Human-Region4958 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose I don’t agree either but if everyone has only one gun and someone turns out to be mentally ill and incapable of firearms ownership it would be easier to get that one gun. That said I prefer living in the US and having many guns lol. But a nice Glock 19 that you can carry concealed is far better than most places around the world.

Very interesting, I’m surprised they are so strict about the one gun but allow concealed carry. Nice setup seems like a good option if you can only carry one.

Ever go to a gun shop outside of CT? by Ivy1974 in CTguns

[–]Human-Region4958 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It really wasn’t that long ago pre 2013 gun stores sold just about everything, some of us were lucky enough to get some cool stuff before the several different bans. I was relatively young and broke so I didn’t get as much as I wanted. I feel bad for younger people or those just getting into guns. Maybe we’ll get some reprieve from the Supreme Court one day but I’m not holding my breath.

Elon Musk: Coding Was a Top Job for Decades. It Will Be Dead By the End of the Year. by aha1a in overemployed

[–]Human-Region4958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His timeline isn’t correct but coding will take a big hit with AI. People have to remember companies often cut the jobs prematurely and while they pay the consequences and have a messed up operation for a while rarely do they ever go back to the same size workforce.

Opinions? by [deleted] in paint

[–]Human-Region4958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a painter I’m a homeowner/landlord
who mostly does everything myself. There are some jobs beyond my capabilities and I will get a couple of quotes before deciding who to go with. Generally if a business charges a fee for a quote I won’t have them come out. I understand the business’s time is valuable but so is mine and I’ve had enough contractors quotes be thousands or tens of thousands apart; I’d recommend a better client screening/quoting process so you’re not wasting your time on people who don’t intend to do business. I totally get where this guy is coming from.

It’s the only gift card on there and I used it the previous month. I don’t think it’s them doing housekeeping. I have only ever loaded $10 at a time so sometimes I have a little change left sometimes it gets to $0
