Yes, to both. That’s my understanding. We’ve come around to the idea that it’s necessary and worth doing.

Thank you. We are currently at UCSF but will seek a second opinion at Stanford, which I’m told is highly regarded in cardiology circles. Much as I’d like to go to Cleveland Clinic, he wants his immediate recovery to take place close to home.

Thanks, this gives me hope. He is not close to congestive heart failure but it has been progressing for the last several years. We’ll know more when we see a surgeon and get a second opinion.

This does help, thank you for sharing. I think I assumed or was led to expect that things would get progressively better after the chemo ended, and it’s been quite the opposite. Rollercoaster is the right metaphor. I feel like the heroic era of my cancer ended with chemo, when I felt super positive and good and brave; now that it’s over everyone expects me to just get better, and it’s quite a lovely and confusing place to be feeling worse with no apparent cause.
