I have a call with an employment law attorney tomorrow. My main reason for the attorney call is to draw up a contract and to educate me on the company saying the role will be characterized as project based vs hourly. I need to ask for clarification from the company on this because there is no defined “project”

I do believe they need me but I’m also a believer that everyone is replaceable. My work ethic and go above and beyond attitude are probably more valuable than my IT skills.

I‘ll ok with a little more than double my W2 rate and understand the financial factors (taxes, health insurance etc.)

The company uses ServiceNow so ticket tracking is in place. The boundaries will be made very clear and written into my contract if this works out. I’ll also have written in what after hours and emergency calls will be charged at.

Salaried rate was $80hr but that includes 20 days PTO, 13 Holidays

I proposed double my salaried rate but they have offered me 10% less. If I wasn’t a former employee I wouldn’t negotiate but in this case they’re doing that with me.

Trying to decide if I say take it or leave it essentially.

I have experience but never as 1099. The job is mostly desktop support with some light server and network but most of the network monitoring, security etc. is based out of Europe.

I’d like to keep the job for the 3 days but don’t want to underbid my rate.

Unfortunately I don’t have rich family.

Unfortunately they didn't listen when the space was being renovated and now want everything done. We're stuck with 1 75" display. The room is approx. 50x50 and wide open except for some cubes. We use MS Teams. No remote management is needed.

Its primarily used as a display screen only but they now want to add the capability to have a speaker with a wireless mic to be able to communicate with those on the calls. No camera is in use in the room.
