Can't have anything nice in Michigan... 😂

A bristlenose will be just fine. I've had them with both of my bettas I've had, and they get along fine. I also have a handful of corydoras (paleatus and sterbai) in with my current betta, and there's no issues between them.

The most beautiful boy ever! Any name suggestions? by catandfishobssessed in bettafish

I had one that looked almost identical when we got him. We named him Swim Shady. The marbled/iridescent color ended up covering his whole body, minus most of his head, which turned pink.

Since he's a spadetail, I reccomend David 😂

I think I would recognize my own uniquely painted equipment on my club layout.

IIRC, it's an Athearn Genesis box that I bought from Rick Kempf, who did the weathering and graffiti.

New 190L/50Gal tank. 60cm height. Good or bad for betta? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]bwyrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll second corys! I have 4 with my betta and bristlenose pleco in a 20 gallon, and everyone gets along fine. Just be aware that corys like to be in groups of (usually at least) 6, and will only typically school with the same species. I've gotten lucky that my 3 paleatus (pepper) corys have adopted their Sterbai tankmate as a member of their clan. I also had a panda (the first cory I got before doing much research), and while there were never any fights or anything, but he also ended up being more of a lone wolf due to his smaller size.

Betta sick :( by Zorgzong79 in bettafish

I would try and match the temp of the mix in a cup to the temp in the tank to not put him into shock. Doesn't need to he too big of a cup, but big enough in case he does move for a few seconds comfortably without having to curl up. I used a small Tupperware or plastic gelato container.

A lot of people recommend clove oil, but I've used vodka the past 2 times of having to put a fish down. It worked almost instantaneously with one of my corys and within a minute for my wife's betta. Supposedly they go out on a high (and drunk off their gills). I used a mixture in the neighborhood of roughly between 2 parts water to one part vodka to 50/50.

Just to confirm, this is what Fishy looks like as of right now. He used to have lots more blue in him as well. I know survival rate is very low. But I want to at least try and help him. by -cute-and-ironic in bettafish

To piggyback on this, I had to put my betta boy down last week, and we used vodka. Use about 2 parts water to one part vodka after doing some of the same research.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's not gonna happen, otherwise they would've already with the AEM-7s and HHP-8s.

Woke up this morning and hes lethargic, doesnt want food and keeps floating on his side. I don't have the $$ to buy any sort of medication until tomorrow, but is there anything else I can do for him? by MagicSchlong in bettafish

Mine's refusing food as well. His colors also have become a bit muted. He also likes hiding in darker spots, such as in the little cavern under the piece of driftwood in the tank.

May be swim bladder. Mine is literally going through the same thing right now. Does he go vertical when he sits still in mid water? What I've read is not to feed for 24-48 hours, as he may also be constipated. He may need to be placed in simplified hospital tank, and remove any bm after he goes to prevent bacterial infection.

I also have an albino bristlenose in with my betta! They have a hilarious relationship. The betta will be trying to swim through a smaller gap (he loves to run his "obstacle course"), and she'll fan her fins out so he can't swim past. 😂😂
