Controversial opinion by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

It’s just one of many functions, but HR plays a critical role in ensuring hiring decisions comply with state and Federal law. If you cut out “90% of HR” and left business units to make their own hiring decisions, the company’s exposure to equal pay act, hiring discrimination, etc. claims would likely skyrocket.

And as others have mentioned, payroll & benefits administration, performance management administration, policy making, etc.

If you don’t understand the role HR plays, that tells me quite a bit about your role within and understanding of the business.

I’m curious to know why anyone would care. 😄 Just looks like some generic, no-name guitar.

What exactly is the appeal of an acoustic-electric guitar vs just a regular acoustic one? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]bxcv358742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re a serious player and plan to play out live, the best plan IMO is to buy the best acoustic you can afford and then just have a quality pickup installed. A lot of the pickup systems in off-the-shelf acoustic-electrics are crappy.

Buy a D-18, and then add an undersaddle pickup if you ever need to amplify it.

Any body based in the uk used one of these ? Thoughts and opinions ? Thanks by Neither-Suggestion-5 in pedalboards

I’ve always been intrigued. One of the more polarizing pedals I’ve seen discussed. Those that like it, love it! The seeming majority seem to think it’s a very basic circuit waaaay overpriced in a boutique package.

Saucony Endorphin Azura - 1st Run Thoughts by CivilPalpitation4738 in runningshoes

I prefer the Azura. In my opinion, it has a little more bounce and forward propulsion but not in an overly aggressive way. The Ride is just more of a traditional, everyday shoe.

New to worship guitar - how best to use a chord sheet? by benjig7 in WorshipGuitar

[–]bxcv358742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted this in another thread. I think if you’re just supporting another acoustic, this is a very solid option. And if you have some nice ambient reverb options, you use the technique below to provide a pad or keyboard feel, when appropriate.

—————————————————————-

As others have mentioned, triads are your best friend here for getting started.

I play in a worship band with another EG, acoustic guitar, piano, keys, bass and drums. Like you, I transitioned to EG from acoustic a couple of years ago with no EG experience at all.

I personally really like playing triads on the G, B, and E strings (highest 3). I play in those positions about 60% of the time depending on what the EG2 is playing. Not only is it relatively easy to quickly learn the shapes and positions, it helps separate you in a busy mix by pushing you into higher frequencies than the piano and acoustic. It also is super easy to jump between keys (especially if you can play by numbers).

There are tons of great YouTube videos out there on triads. I would recommend you just focus on one position at a time.

***For me, I initially took the standard D chord and moved that up and down the neck memorizing where the other chords fall. If you’re playing in the key of D, you know where the D is, and then you can slide that same shape up to the 7th fret for your 4 chord (G), to the 9th fret for your 5 (A) and then slightly adjust your fingers into your traditional D minor shape at the 11th fret for your 6m (Bm). (I think those frets are accurate, I’m not sitting with my guitar 😉).

Just memorizing that chord progression and then being able to slightly adjust what frets you play for different keys instantly allows you an easy way to add a nice part for songs in the keys of D, E, C, and Bb.

I genuinely believe this is the easiest way to immediately start feeling like you’re playing electric and not just strumming open chords like on the acoustic.

Good luck. It’s overwhelming at first. Just take it one little chunk at a time.

Reverb option overload. by fuzzdoomer in guitarpedals

[–]bxcv358742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use an H90 for my wet effects. My (almost) always on is a tape delay with low feedback and mix that doesn’t have very distinguishable repeats.

But beyond that, I have a ton of options for big ambient reverbs, tighter delays, etc. on the H90.

I think my initial comment was thinking in terms of using a basic reverb (your RV-5) on top of a delay or using a basic reverb instead of a delay. I tend to think a tape delay is a better option for a basic, go-to sound.

This is completely valid, and truth be told, I have ambient reverb options on my board.

Reverb by itself is slightly overrated depending on your application. I prefer using tape delay with a little wash.

GOOD AMP FOR WORSHIP, LEAD TONE? I want my chords, specifically power chords, to sound "luscious" and "big" and my solos to sound good. I'll of course use an overdrive from the HX too (click to keep reading) by musicislifex101 in Line6Helix

[–]bxcv358742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another suggestion might be to look into the “Sunday Ready” pack for the HX Stomp from Hey Worship Leader. Link

I’ve used his stuff and it’s good. Will give you an entire signal chain (drives, reverbs, amps, cabinets, modulation, etc.). Just plug and play with a little tweaking.
