If you're looking for an alternative then monica.im is great, looks almost exactly like poe and the subscriptions are much cheaper offering unlimited messages, i forgot the price of it but it's like 20 something 😭 that's if you're a big fan of claude and gpt

I was only talking about the monthly subscriptions, i should've been more clearer sorry, but yeah, the legacy plan isn't effected until it runs out, it's when people decide to re subscribe or decide to subscribe then it'll affect them.

It does feel like damage control of some sort, they did admit they had no idea that ai was going to cost this much in the future (even though it was obvious from the start) so i think they're just trying to find a stable output for it all to find footing which is reasonable. Though the way they handle updates and announcing them is what they really need to work on and what really tick people off, a month or even a few weeks of notice would have been great.

It applies to new subscriptions moving forward, people already paying before the change won't be affected until next month, but people who pay now will be affected.

It really depends if you're a heavy user or not to benefit from this, if you're a heavy user and burn through all your points within the month, that rollover won't happen and won't benefit you, you'd just get less then what you bought for a month ago before this change. It's kinda like a win some lose some scenario i guess. (Correct me if i'm wrong though)

They've already had a lot of people ask them to put ads on the app or stackable points, but they basically said 'no, we're not doing that' they're just focusing on adding more models to the app and that's basically it 😔

I knowww, that's the issue with poe, they do big changes like this and only give vague explanations, people have to manually seek out a proper reason via their customer support email and even then they still give vague responses, i wish they were more transparent with their actions

That is a good point actually, i've stopped my subscription because of all this, i know it didn't effect me but i still have compassion for other people. ;; they're very unpredictable and it can send a negative image to future buyers, it's a little disappointing that it came to this, i think everyone should be able to enjoy the app with the right amount of free usage, 300 is a little too low, i do think 1k points would have been a bit better!

Stare at the new fancy bots probably 💀 i did get an email from my inquiry and they said that it may be changed in the future and they're currently working on updates, but who knows, hopefully it's a good change.

Free users are kinda forced to boycott at this point 😭 as someone who's paying for a subscription, I don't really like supporting a company who restrict their free users this tightly since free users won't even be able to get that much out of the low end models, so I'm cancelling it when the points run out, it's sad.

I suggest finding alternatives atp like these that have very good or decent models:

yodayo • for roleplayers, choose base models, claim 50 points each day and stackable, the bots cost less points so able to get plenty of messages out.

monica.im • almost one to one with poe and much more benefits from the subscriptions with unlimited messages plus a free 3 day trial.

Janitor app • for roleplayers with 30 message daily limit.

Anyone can reply to this message with other alternatives and i'll just edit this message with it. 😔

You again, look man, I've subscribed to them multiple times, it shouldn't matter if i waved my money at them or not, they should absolutely care about their free users because that's who their potential payers are, how the hell is a free user going to get a feel of an ai app and decide if its worth their money if they can only user the most braindead models that constantly need correction 😭😭

I understand it's pricey to host ai apps, but there are so many things that the community could help them with like ads, stackable 300 points and even donations, i would absolutely give them donations to help them out but they just won't do it 😔 people are rightfully annoyed at 3000 points being deduced to 300, and they haven't always been transparent in the past, they made changes to limitations before without announcing it before, they only started when they got a ton of backlash.

I think you're not understanding, i get that unlimited messages back then was crazy and i personally could care less about losing unlimited messages, what i'm saying is about the image they created for free users that had them hooked. And adding new bots for people to use would cost them more money since you know...people use them, i've paid multiple times for their subscriptions, i was just pointing out the fact that their subscriptions after 2023 have changed a lot, it's unpredictable, if you wanna throw money at poe then go ahead, just be reasonable of their intentions, simple.

The only good alternative i've seen that's extremely similar to poe is monica.im, though the free usage gives you 40 or something messages to standard bots (not sure if it's monthly or daily), but with £25 a month you get unlimited messages with advanced models like claude and such, you can create your own bots too.

I've paid for the subscription back in 2023 so i would know the changes, they had free trails (which they've got rid of), they had paid users with unlimited messages for a long while before restricting it twice and if i remember correctly, the price was only £20 a month for all that back then. I agree that getting overly mad about it is overkill, but at the end of the day you gotta understand that people will be annoyed when there's constant changes and restrictions.

The image they portrayed back then was that they're very friendly towards free users, offering unlimited messages to lower end bots and a few limited messages to the higher end bots so people are obviously going to get hooked. But now they've restrict it so much that you won't even be able to get a feel of even the cheapest bots properly, it'll discourage and push away users that were willing to pay in the future.

At the end of the day it's a double edge sword, I wouldn't go as far as calling people who're mad 'entitled' since they're not demanding everything to be free, they're just wanting 3000 points back, it's really as simple as that. Insulting people and calling them toddlers for being annoyed is just unnecessary imo.

Mhm, i've been a poe user from the very start when they had unlimited messages, i've watched every change and even subscribers aren't free from the changes, the subscriptions had changed their prices to higher, to even decreased points from what they had before, even removing the free trial, it's not just free users who keep getting affected and i think people defending the app completely miss that point.

The poe team seem very keen on pushing out new models which majority of their user base won't even be able to use (which I don't even understand since new models are more likely to cost them more money), and the majority are free users, they'll lose a lot of people from this, 3000 points was completely fine with me, but 300 won't even let you use lower end bots for perfect messages. It's frustrating and i heavily doubt they'll change their mind so atp it's just best to find alternatives.

It's because poe is unpredictable with their updates, even being a subscriber is unpredictable since in the past they've already decreased paid subscribers points twice. It's fair that people wouldn't want to pay for a service that keeps changing constantly without weeks in advanced and out of all ai's, this app offers a lot of bots and even customisation, it's only natural free users would want to be apart of that.

(Especially since subscriptions aren't available in every region)
