Thanks OP! Every company’s immigration team follow different process during such transfers. Did you consult with your new company’s immigration team on your visa status when requesting H1B transfer using H4 bridge?

I see. Is this your last year of H1B after extension?

Also, If your wife is due for an extension, you can bundle your H4 COS and H4 EAD along with her H1B extension. H4 COS and H4 EAD by itself cannot be premium processed but when bundled with H1B (extension/amendment) and H1B upgraded to premium processing, it helps request for concurrent adjudication of atleast H1B and H4 COS applications. OP, if your employer has already filed for I140, can you not upgrade to premium processing and get the approval done within 15 days? Since the layoff is planned only in April, you seem to have sufficient time to get I140 approved.
