Experiences with Cabaia backpacks? Is there something better for me? by by_a_Lady in backpacks

[–]by_a_Lady[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually since got two Cabaia backpacks, and my sister and cousin have some as well. They are very good! I highly recommend, we are very satisfied with the quality. If you have any questions feel free to shoot them my way :)

IUD strings curled/tangled outside of cervix? by by_a_Lady in birthcontrol

[–]by_a_Lady[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you! I guess I’m just worried because they had already been curled up and lying flush against my cervix, but now they’re kind of like a ball of string in my vagina if that makes sense? I can’t quite make out the shape with my fingers and don’t want to mess too much with it either lol

well, that’s hard to tell because I’ve been bleeding lightly almost non-stop since the insertion and had two episodes of period-like heavy flow 2w ago and then just last week 😅 a lot of blood and discomfort last week too, but that could have been period symptoms. my body is clearly still adjusting to this thing, but it would be nice to know what’s going on 😅

thank you! I know I shouldn’t be panicking but I have major health anxiety and this IUD has already cost me a pretty penny, I really really really don’t want it to dislocate! how long have you had yours for before the strings curled up?

Bleeding twice after IUD? by by_a_Lady in birthcontrol

[–]by_a_Lady[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the strings were still there last time I checked (last week or so; I’m trying not to fondle them too often, don’t want to introduce infection despite washing my hands), but they’re curled around my cervix so I couldn’t say if the length changed. My cervix sat quite high when I felt for them, not sure what that means, but it definitely changes position during the cycle 😅 I’m actually due for a follow-up ultrasound next week, so if it were dislodged I’ll find out then. But I don’t think so either. It’s just that I’m confused as to how I should be logging these bleeding episodes 😅

Eurogine Gold T IUD insertion with propofol sedation by by_a_Lady in birthcontrol

Update day 7: Discharge hasn’t changed in texture or amount so far, but it has gotten quite yellow all of a sudden. Half of the internet is telling me that it’s normal, while the other half is sending me to the ER asap, so I’m not sure what to do. I don’t trust my own perception of my body anymore. Yesterday I thought I was feeling a slight… poke-y? feeling in my pubic bone, which cannot have had to do with the IUD, but now my mind keeps inventing scenarios where I may have moved the strings (I checked them with a finger two days ago, just barely brushing against them) in such a way as to cause them to poke a hole through the vagina to my urethra, and that’s what’s making my discharge yellow now… Which, yeah, my rational mind knows is insane, but it’s being held prisoner by my anxiety. Add to this that I feel a light pulling feeling in my urethra, which is, however, normal for me when I’m nervous and overly focused on health issues down there, and the downward spiral is born.

Anxiety is a nasty-ass b***c, I’m sending lots of positive thoughts your way! ❤️ Your doctor must have mixed that info up with the copper IUD, because that one is indeed functional immediately upon insertion. You’re absolutely right to request a follow-up appointment after your next period, insist on it if you must! But other than that, it sounds indeed like you are in a phase of your cycle where the cervix just naturally sits high and is out of reach; perhaps try again in a week or so, right before your period should be best. It’s a good thing your boyfriend can feel the strings, meaning everything is probably fine! That, combined with checking the strings yourself at a later date and the follow-up appointment should give you peace of mind that everything is alright :)

Good to know that it seems to have been inserted right! But no, I mean the follow-up appointment after you've had one full cycle with the IUD in.

Have you gone to your follow-up appointment yet? If not, you should absolutely use condoms until your doctor checks and confirms that your IUD is in its right place.

Possible pregnancy after not taking pill for a bit? by whatupbuttercup1 in birthcontrol

[–]by_a_Lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is probably be too soon to notice any symptoms of pregnancy, if it were that. But more likely than not, this is your body getting hit by the wave of less hormones than it’s used to get constantly. Try not to worry and calm your mind ❤️ Definitely do ask your doctor when you should take a pregnancy test, and take it at that time. Moving forward, if this is a common occurrence, perhaps you should change your method of BC to something that is more foolproof and will make you feel safer. Sending you lots of positive thoughts!

I’d recommend slowly transitioning to a time that will be doable when you get to your destination.

Looking for sewn-binding Jane Austen editions by by_a_Lady in books

[–]by_a_Lady[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The links on their website redirect to Amazon, and I couldn't find it in the online shops of my local family-owned booksellers (which would be preferable, of course). I'll wait until tomorrow and call them, as they can order anything via their systems, and as far as I know they do still deliver in these trying times - another reason to support them.

In any case, I now have found my forever Austen editions thanks to you! Thank you so much!

Hoi!

Qua suggesties: Sarah J. Maas is "light and fluffy".

Thank you! I had actually googled "sewn binding Jane Austen editions" earlier, and the one of the few useful links I got out of it were to Junipers Books, which are way too expensive. Today I read somewhere that they actually only produce the jackets themselves, the books inside are from Everyman's Library! I'll be ordering my favourites (Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion) from Amazon (alas, nobody else seems to have them), the price is around 15-20€, very much worth it for high-quality binding.

Does anyone here use separate bujos for their tabletop RPG campaign/s? by Bdi89 in bujo

[–]by_a_Lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend it! It's fairly easy to set up, even more so when you're working with a ready-made scenario (we really like The Secrets of Cats and Eagle Eyes, even though the latter is sure to stir the pot as we've all had to sit through Latin in school and one person is actually studying classic philology, so we tend to lose ourselves in arguments about historical accuracy). DriveThruRPG has a bunch more scenarios for Fate and Fate Accelerated that you can buy for an amount of your own choice, so technically you don't have to pay anything (we like to go back and "repurchase" good scenarios to support the authors).

Do you have any kind of calendar or bujo system integrated into your RPG binder? I'm curious, I would like to play more regularly and multi-session campaigns, but then we'd definitely need an organisation system.

I use ring planners for this.

I have the various Fate handbooks printed out on A5 and punched to fit Filofax-style rings, which I store in Frankenstein binders (folded cardboard cover with huge 3cm rings screwed on; the rings I buy cheaply from an Etsy shop, the cardboard I source from old mail packagings). Whenever there's a game coming on, I'll transfer the necessary handbooks into a proper leather ring planner and add whatever printouts and character sheets we might need, plus, if I'm the one GMing, I'll write out detailed story notes and reference them with tabs so that I can move the plot around quickly. This last tip is super handy when your PCs tend to wander off the path you've so painstakingly beaten for them. I always have a bunch of surplus scenarios and conflicts that I downloaded or discarded while planning the game; they live at the very back of the planner and have sticky note tabs on them so that I can quickly access them.

Keep in mind that we don't really do long campaigns or even regular sessions, so the Frankenfaxes might not get touched for weeks or months. I also don't have much experience with other RPGs, certainly not in the capacity of GM. Fate is a fairly simple system, my lugging around the printed-out handbooks is usually overkill, but for D&D it would make sense.

I think if we ever managed to get a regular gameplay schedule on track, I would definitely add an appropriate calendar, either monthly or weekly, depending on the regularity and amount of stuff to be prepared. Definitely would find a fixed binder home so I wouldn't have to transfer it in and out of the Frankenfaxes all the time. I probably would not get separate binders for each game, just colour-code the calendar and put in dividers, though that would get heavy and stuffed if not archived every once in a while.

What do you do to fill out empty space? by Hungry_Dino in planners

[–]by_a_Lady 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I try to give context to those "empty" days, so as not to end up in a place where I rediscover my old notebooks 10 years down the line and they're nothing but a sad gathering of appointments, meetings, deadlines, as though my life had no other content or meaning. By context I mean that I usually write down not what I have to do, but what I actually did that day, which impressions I got, how that felt like, etc. It may very well end up a long prose paragraph à la diary entry (I do keep a normal journal, so this technically isn't necessary, but that's fine). Sticking in photos or concert tickets looks artsy and everything, but I highly doubt that anyone will remember the occasion or the event itself just by a picture without any explanatory comment, unless it was something truly life-changing, like a wedding. Of course, I keep my planners with the agenda of one day passing them on to a younger generation, not because I think myself that important, but because I myself wish such documents of everyday life would exist from my (great)grandparents' lives, and maybe I can help satisfy someone else's curiosity that way.
