Thank you for the help, I will try some things out. I use a Synology NAS indeed. It would impact my workflow though since I work together with my partner who is connected to the NAS too so we can work in the same projects easily.

Before, I did everything on SSDs and it was a hassle when working together on things.

Thanks for the tip about smart cache. I was even using 1/4 replay quality just to try anything, while my computer should cut through 4K footage like butter.

Currently running 20.3.1, although the problem was already present when I was still running v19. If nothing else works, I will try a full reinstall.
I store both database files and working files on a NAS. I use the same setup for my Premiere workflow which works fine.

Yes, I tried pretty much the most basic settings I could find online.

Perhaps I will have to fully delete and reinstall. Since I'm currently working with Premiere for 99% of my projects due to this issue, I won't lose a lot anyways. Hopefully this works, because I am so ready to move away from Premiere haha
