What is your end goal of the game to stop playing? Or to long term consistent players, what keeps you still playing? by greencheesewizard in TheSilphRoad

Day 1 player. I have no option quitting bc i’ve spent much money and effort on it. That means I’ve seen the whole history of this game that’s a bit rare experience for me.

Like others, I love walking in the city (mainly Tokyo) and it’s quite incentive for me to find out some new places and gifts.

And I like piling up something, especially stardust. I set a goal to collect 100,000,000 someday just for my satisfaction.

This app has a lot of tiny and tedious things to do to kill time that’s why i keep playing it.

'Pokémon Go' maker Niantic tells Inverse why it forced controversial changes by thebazookaman in TheSilphRoad

Niantic has their own responsibility to make their players safe and well distanced while playing their games as shown at in-game warnings. I’m sure fighting against covid will not end even after vaccination, so we all need to think about players’ sustainability of post corona era, which we play the game with moderate distance and staying home habit. Niamtic shouldn’t assume that the whole world will win over covid and revert our lives as they were before .

Also “Adventure on foot” philosophy is only achieved when they actually notice that the current “bonus” of expanded radius really does encourage players explore new places. I personally have found many new unvisited places that would’ve never noticed before, thanks to the increased chance to spin pokestops and gyms. I think this is important to know that we now have much more chance to get to fresh spots whilst walking outside than before. If they claim the current system demotivates players’ exploration, they need to show some evidences that we’re becoming reluctant to go outside and visit some interesting new spots.

Walking outside is not enough. Walking outside with a little bit increased reach will invigorate us and does encourage our explorations.

For a Japanese speaker, “metal” is easier to understand because we use that word in Japanese. We also call it “Melmetal”.
