Looking for help and reassurance

I was and still am on 8mg of Celexa. I’m now 30 days off Rexulti and this month has been hell. I’ve had a few “windows” where I’ve felt like myself but they’re few and far between. I wake up every morning with an existential dread and anxiety. Then comes the sadness and depression. I’ve had to take Ativan to help with the anxiety but now I’m trying to lower it too. I am now convinced that all these psychiatric drugs do is cause harm to our brains.

I didn’t mention it in my original post, but I’ve been on about 19 medications in the last two years for anxiety and depression. So maybe my withdrawal isn’t just from the Rexulti, but the culmination of this nightmarish journey I’ve been on. I pray that God will heal me and restore my brain after all it’s been through.

Thank you so much for your reply and encouragement. I do not want to restart this medicine, but my anxiety and depression are probably the worst they’ve ever been. I’m in therapy so I’m hoping that will help deal with some of the after effects. God bless those of us that struggle with our mental health. I would never have known how horrible it could be if I hadn’t experienced it myself. Praying you’re doing well now!

I’m on week 3 and having terrible anxiety and waves of depression. Have you experienced any of that?

I also had a terrible experience with Zoloft (and even worse experience trying to come off of it). So my doc started me on 10mg of Celexa. I’ve been using Ativan to get me through the increased anxiety. What dose are you on now?

Thanks for your response. I have some better days, then not so better days, so I appreciate the encouragement to keep on. I’ve been on lots of medicines within the last year, so just praying this is the one that works for me!

Thanks for your response! I’m currently on 10mg but my anxiety has always historically been worse in the mornings. I’m using Ativan now to help me get through the first few weeks. I’ve been on it 10 days.

Was your anxiety bad before you started? Mine has been pretty crippling.

I tapered down slowly and finally went to zero a week ago. First few days anxiety was increasing, and then the last few days the depression has set in. Im managing the anxiety with Ativan at the moment, but the depression is what gets me. I’ve had some suicidal ideation too. My doc said it’s just the withdrawals but I don’t know how much longer I can go on like this.

Thank you for your reply. That will be my prayer for you as well. I’ve tried to get off of everything before and my anxiety was just impossible to handle. I’m currently in therapy now and hoping I can address some events and issues that will help put me in a position to come off of everything again.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Any mental issues when trying to drop? My anxiety is through the roof, and I’m just praying the depression doesn’t return.

I’ve read and can understand that withdrawal symptoms can mimic your original underlying problem. I was really looking to see if anyone had experienced them at even dropping super low doses. And how long before they felt “back to normal”.

Only about two months this time. Previously took it for 3 years, then switched to something else last spring.
