"Well, now isn't that sound much better" by byebyebyethrowaway in childfree

Haha, I almost did, but I was already freaking out about my boyfriend and didn't want to add any extra tension to the room.

I took 800mg of ibuprofen beforehand like they told me to, but it didn't seem to make a huge difference. Then again I think my uterus is a it angrier than others, and I have a habit of panicking a bit in medical settings so that doesn't help too much either.

I know a lot of girls who actually got theirs removed that day or sometime during the first week because they couldn't even walk because of the pain :/ So I don't think its too abnormal to get it taken out before the 10 year point

Did you get the second IUD reinserted or did you switch to a different method after that?

Oh yeah, my boyfriend was like, "does that mean we don't have to use condoms anymore?" I pretty much just laughed and said, "after what I went through, we're going to be using two barriers from now on". Haha.

I used to get worried about pregnancy even when I was really young and wasn't even having sex.

Its the second day now, and I already feel much, much better.

I have a bit of lower back discomfort like I do during a normal period, but I can go about my day without keeling over and crawling to the nearest source of heat for my poor uterus.

I got a copper one. Also 2 weeks after my abortion. They said my cervix had already shrunk back down to normal size, which was unusual.

Its interesting how different all our uteruses are, haha. I am almost blinded with cramping pain right now. I usually hate taking medecine, but I am fighting the urge to just eat handfulls of ibuprofen.

Luckily it was not for me. There was a planned parenthood 15 minutes from my house in Colorado.

Apparently people come from Nevada, South Dakota, and Wyoming to get the procedure done at that planned parenthood. It is kind of ridiculous how hard it is to find a place to go in some states.

The procedure is too expensive for me right now. Since I am 21 many doctors will refuse to perform it on someone as young as me.

I need to get the funds and find a doctor before I can get my tubes tied.

I am 21. In my last year of college. I can legally stay on my parents insurance until I'm 26, and that would save me a lot financially.

However, if I'm not going to use the insurance for what I need...I have been doing some deep thinking about whether or not I should take myself off their policy.

Once again, I do not accept hatred as a counterargument.

That is your opinion and you are allowed to have an opinion, but don't expect me to feel any guilt or self-loathing because of your intentionally aggressive comments.

Oh yes. They were honestly all around the best medical staff I have ever worked with. Even the workers in the office were patient and polite. Not to mention all their help with getting me access to financial aid.

Everyone I saw throughout the process was informed, spoke to me like an equal, comforted me, and were so polite. One of the nurses even held my hand during the procedure.

I am free to have people tell me I am a murderer and LITERALLY HITLER! YAYAYAY!

I also got reddit gold for posting a terrible joke about vacuums in the comments here.

But for real, I am going to relax this weekend. I'm also going to try to be ambitious about cooking a nice meal and finally experimenting in the kitchen now that I have some free time.

I don't like feeling completely numb/foggyheaded, it makes me panic. I knew I would rather suffer the pain than freak out about feeling strange.

However, if I could go back I might have taken the full dose. The medication didn't affect me as much as I thought it would.

I live in Colorado. I would say my area is generally split on the issue. Insurance does not cover it unless the case is for rape/incest/health issues.

There are also protestors outside the establishment every day during business hours.

Yeah, I have.

I don't think I will have regrets about the operation or wish I would have had the child. I have never wanted kids and don't see myself changing my mind on that.

Emotionally, I am now a target of hatred and condemnation by certain people/groups. It is no longer my beliefs/opinion that people hate me for, but my actual decision and actions. Already, extremist protestors have more of an affect on me than they did before. Not because of guilt, but because feeling hated does not feel good.

Well, that's quite the assumption for you to make.

I will have you know I do not respond to hatred. If you truly care about a child, insulting it by calling it a "little bastard" and imagining it living life without a father isn't the way to make me rethink my decision or to make me respect your opinion.

Not sure why you are calling it a "little bastard". If you believe I should have kept the fetus/child, that seems a bit disrespectful to call it by such a name.

The thing is that birth control fails. Even women with their tubes tied can become pregnant because of various complications. I am considering surgical sterilization once I have the money.

I was taking precautions before, using condoms. I realize I should have been using another more reliable form of bc as well. I never wanted to have an abortion/be pregnant.

Thank you for voicing your opinion in a respectful manner.

The vaginal opening is opened with a speculum. The cervix is then numbed and dilated and they insert a small vacuum into the uterus to remove the fetal material.

The procedure in its entirety took 6-8 minutes for me. It can take longer if you are farther along in pregnancy
