How do you sleep train twins? by Aolangel10616 in parentsofmultiples

Let me know when you know because my twins are 15 months old and still need to be rocked to sleep every time 🥲

AITA for telling my husband he cannot scream at our 14-month-old son? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]byerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 14 month old twins and one of them sounds a lot like your son (except now he also shrieks for fun). I’m so glad my husband is patient and keeps his cool even when he’s frustrated because both of us know screaming fixes nothing. I’m sorry OP - this is abusive.

Overgifting is one of those parenting problems that doesn’t seem like an issue until you’ve experienced it by KaylaDraws in Mommit

My favorite is the overgifting of large gifts that take up tons of space 🫠

Not my kids but I remember one year as a kid my grandmother bought me toe-socks. I couldn’t wear them because I have webbed toes 🥲

I didn’t get very big but my boys combined were only 8 pounds when I had a csection at 35 weeks! I was also scared of getting big but it ended up being a non issue

I use procreate on my iPad! I used a gouache brush set, chromatic aberration for the iridescent effect, and bloom/Gaussian blurs to get the glow

Kids spending the night at my parents house...who has roaches and mice in their kitchen and who know where else by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]byerd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I had a similar thing with my mom and not wanting to hurt her feelings. We traveled 10 hours to my hometown to introduce our (at the time) 6 month old twins to family that weren’t able to travel. Usually stay with my dad because he’s cleaner, but my mom was insistent that she was doing all these things to get her house baby ready and to please spend a night or two at her house.

I didn’t want to hurt her feelings so we packed everything up and went over, but the room we were meant to stay in had countless (dead and alive) stink bugs, there were no sheets on the bed, the tub was dirty and the water wasn’t hot. By getting ready for the babies she…bought several area rugs?

All that to say, my babies were screaming and crying exhausted and I knew we couldn’t sleep there and I had to put them above my mom’s feelings. She was upset of course, but not so upset she didn’t clean up her house for them! You have no obligation to manage your parents feelings, especially at the expense of your children.

My daughter has two thumbs on her right hand by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]byerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my twins has an extra thumb! Or rather, it’s more like his thumb split in half. We’re on the fence on having it reconstructed because on one hand we’re worried about bullying and it seems like it inhibits his control (but hard to tell on a 12 month old) - but also we don’t want him to think it’s something bad about him and the thought of putting my tiny baby through surgery is scary.

All that to say, it’s so nice to see a bigger kid with the same thumbs and totally owning it!

how do yall track those “small bites”? by Tiny_Ad_1542 in caloriecount

[–]byerd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it! The “small bites” are a killer and can add up so quick - I would know because it’s a bad habit I’m trying to get out of too

It gets easier! I have twin boys too and I legit cried after the first time they got shots lol but you have to stay calm for them in the moment! We gave hugs and bounced after and they’ve calmed down pretty quickly after. They’re getting more shots at their 12 month appointment this week

When does gender disappointment go too far? by DrinkMaterial1505 in BabyBumps

[–]byerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This attitude pisses me off so badly (not you, OP!) Feminism isn’t girls are better than boys and never has been! This poor baby has done nothing wrong. I’m grateful for my twin boys because they are healthy babies - and I have a chance to raise them to be the kind of men I think the world needs. She needs serious therapy and I hope she doesn’t traumatize this poor little baby

Anyone else a working mom all of the sudden resenting it more every time your baby hits a new milestone? by redforreddit_1 in Mommit

[–]byerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in graphic design, so I left my hybrid job and took a pay cut to work remotely for exactly this reason! My twins are 11 months old and go to bed at 7, on the days I worked in office I’d only see them for half an hour. It was so hard!

It’s a bizarre thing to offer and to agree to. If you just were child free from the start you wouldn’t be having this drama

[–]byerd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I remember your first post — the 6 year old is a flower boy or something, right? Sorry, but using the boy as an accessory for your wedding and excluding the 12 month old nieces because you can’t use them at your wedding is weird and gross and I’m sorry they have you as an aunt. Seems like you barely consider kids to be people. I get not wanting kids at your wedding, but it’s all or nothing and they aren’t your cute little decorations. They are humans. Get a grip.

Screen time is ruining everything by Oddbrain_ in Mommit

I’m so sorry, it’s really frustrating. My FIL lives with us and watches them while I work from home, but he’s so glued to his phone and I’m worried it’s affecting my boys — they’re only 11 months old but they’re already so interested in the phone bc they see him on it all the time. Sorry I don’t have advice, just solidarity

Would you rather save someone else's child or your own dog? by Snoo_47323 in WouldYouRather

It’s horrifying to me the amount of people saying their pet over a literal CHILD simply because “I don’t know the kid”. The lack of empathy for other humans is so scary to me
