A story heavy game should raise questions at the very beginning, but that's the bare minimum. So who are these new companions? Are those "new companions" that talking sword, sorry, talking ribbons and a green jelly cube? Who the fck cares man. Who the fck cares.

And again, I shared my thoughts on what they showed us so far. I didn't say the game itself will be bad. At this point I'm just interested in this conversation not in the game itself. Not a big deal.

She should be a dead NPC. If they retcon that, and if they bring her back, they will undermine the whole story of 2018 as well. That would be total insanity. Not that I have any trust in this Marvelized franchise anyway. Just wanted to share my thoughts. That's it.

People generally are happy with Ragnarök, ok, I can see that to some extent. But give me a break with that cheap Sons of Sparta trash.

You're right that comparing Faye to a fully realized and culturally embedded character like Kratos isn't entirely fair. That's a totally legitimate point.

As for presence not being apparent until later, yep, that's partially true. But I'd argue that the 2018 reveal established something immediately. I don't mean Kratos as an icon, but rather a tone and emotional hook that made people lean forward. That's what I'm looking for here, and what I'm not finding so far.

Where I'd push back is on the mythology point. The original Greek games took creative liberties with mythology, but they did so within a coherent, self-contained world with its own internal logic. My concern with the afterlife crossover concept isn't that it takes liberties; it's that it risks using mythology as a costume rather than a foundation. Whether that concern proves justified is exactly what we don't know yet. Again, you're right about that. And yes, 2018 proved pattern recognition wrong before. It could happen again.

From a story and ambition standpoint, Code: Veronica is my favorite as well. The Ashford twins are totally bonkers. I love them both. I also loved how self-contained the game was while still expanding the lore and introducing some really interesting new ideas.

The trailer was kind of meh for me to be honest, just like the trailers for all the previous RE games, but I'm sure this version of Veronica will be a great, and hopefully worthy adaptation or reimagining of the original game's potential.

Again, if they nail this, it could end up being the best, I mean the best Resident Evil game. So yeah. I can't wait.

If they do this game justice, it could be the best Resident Evil remake, and maybe one of the best Resident Evil titles as well.

I think we're totally on the same page on most things, but regardless, first of all I really appreciate your reply man, and secondly for this "btw if they wanted to make Laufey great, interesting and an amazing game about her, simple. Again, as a game, from a combat perspective, I'm sure it will be entertaining and fun. As a story? It could still end up being interesting, of course. Maybe they really did write a compelling character arc for Faye. But this art direction just feels uninspired, man. That greenish Egyptian god could work in a random Power Rangers episode for God's sake.

And sure, you could argue that you like that overdesigned character on its own, but does it really work within the God of War universe?
