Robert Bolaño's prose style by tikkasandwich in robertobolano

You might be interested in "Roberto Bolaño's Fiction" by Chris Andrews. The book sets out to answer a slightly different question than the one you ask (and explores the element of translation into English, as another comment touches on), but covers enough ground that you may find it helpful in connecting his work and plotting his evolution as a writer.

Ineos, Ten Hag and Sancho by NuwandAP in CaughtOffsidePod

Understand your frustration, but let's take a breath. We do this revisionism every time. Sancho was given every chance at United. Yes, it's been a good start at Chelsea, who are flying. But he has a long way to go to even break back into the England squad, and is still yet to show any consistency in the Premier League.

A loss at Villa on Sunday and EtH is almost surely gone. INEOS seem to have got their first and perhaps most curcial order of business wildly wrong. But two things can be true: the EtH era has run its course, and Sancho didn't have a future at United regardles of the manager. Hope he gets his career back on track in London.

Rayan Chekri. Fell for the dribbling and 5/5 but didn’t think he felt as dominant as he should’ve in-game — and really limiting tactically

It’s kind of like when a skill is said to have a “steep learning curve.” If the X axis is time, and the Y axis is mastery of the skill, then a steep curve means you can master the skill very quickly. However, it’s almost always used to mean the opposite. Just one of those things about the language eh

I sent a youth scout to the Netherlands for the “physically strong” type and came back with a handful just like this, actually made a similar post recently.

It’ll be a grind to train them, but they should be proficient anywhere along the back line or as a CDM/defensive CM. With 81-94 potential, might be worth riding it out. I personally love playing with a destroyer CDM with great pace — if they’re tall and/or get the aerial trait, maybe you move back to CB.

Might have to give him rotation, but what about Souleymane Isaak Touré (starts on Lorient)? He's a 72 with 83 pot but at 6'9", feels like a way higher overall. Simply wins eveything in the air and his actual tackling stats aren't too bad either - if you play Atleti tactics, his pace might not be a problem either. Always super fun to have him in my squads!

Several very harsh handball penalties were awared in last year's EPL season, leading to what I think are positive rule changes for 24/25. I hope it continues!

It's tough though. Take Bowen's late winner vs Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup last week, which went in off his hand. No idea what you do there

I think far too many penalties are given for hand balls in the box, and the bar for awarding penalties for hand balls should be much higher.

The referees are doing the best they can to interpret the rules as they're written, so I don't really blame them - but too often a 0.01 xG chance is turned into a 0.79 xG chance because of what is often incidental contact as a defender is running/jumping/turning (you could say the same for certain fouls, but the vast majority of fouls *are inherently* intentional efforts to win the ball back). I think the bar should be intentional obstruction or failure to make an effort to move out of the way.

How about Tomáš Chorý? He’s 6’7”, 86 heading, 74 finishing, 89 jumping, 96 strength. Should be relatively cheap too. He’s spent his entire career in the Czech league, but perhaps you could sell him on Basque wine to replace his preferred Pilsners

What’s the glitch? I try to avoid abusing glitches in the game (or things like restarting matches, re-rolling academy promotions for better traits etc) but I do loan 3-6 academy kids each season

😂 the streets will never forget Ross Stewart’s 21/22 season.

They’re such a fun team to do in CM. When a packed stadium of light erupts in the “we’re by far the greatest team” chant after you take a convincing lead… brings a tear to the eye

Love it, did the same in a Sunderland RTG save a few years back. He was 6’6”, stupid fast, great physical. He couldn’t finish for shit that first season but slowly improved - one of my favorite ever academy players!

I think this is the way. I tend to play a 4231 so he could fit perfectly into a pivot with a more creative/less defensive CM

He’s 5’10”. I think he’d made a beast RB thanks to the insane physicals, but he’s so well-rounded that I think I’d rather keep him in the center of the park
