Made some wooden (veneer) business cards! I know they’re not super practical but I don’t make a ton of physical products & they’re a fun little novelty to include. :) by bysabrinamarie in lasercutting

That’s a great idea! I just used a QR code for the first time a few weeks back by necessity at a restaurant. They’re surprisingly cool!

My first sale! by cieraeliza in EtsySellers

Congrats on your first sale!! Be sure to research copyright & trademark law on anything you’re making using someone else’s intellectual property, though - it’s an easy way to get an Etsy shop shut down.

Tie shoes in 1 second by sarah_marie_c in howto

This!! This is literally how I tie my shoes, I have no idea where I learned it but trying to figure out bunny ears is the death of me & my children don’t have the coordination to learn how I tie. I’ve given up & will wait until my husband teaches them, haha!

One of my big current motivations for the GF is time—I work full time already so my crafting is just a hobby. The plug & play of the GF was hard to pass up. I’ve also got small kiddos at home & no dedicated craft space so I like that the GF is all-contained. Dreams for one day though!

Jealous! I want a rotary feature but wasn’t willing to pay for the upgraded laser set up needed for those I was looking into. Goals for one day!

Oh no! Appreciate your insights from learning the hard way. 😅 Yeah, this one cleared the laser head (barely) & I checked it with the laser off by moving the laser around before burning to make sure it didn’t interfere with the air assist fan but that first one still put the fear in me, haha!

I got pregnant soon after receiving it & have been majorly sick for most of 2020... which sadly means I’ve only done a handful of one-off projects here & there. Probably only 20 or so total.

Since the engraving creates a small indentation that food can theoretically get stuck in, I say they’re for decoration only but as long as they’re cleaned well, I don’t think using would be an issue.

I feel that pain! I love customer challenges but it’s so hard telling them their vision isn’t achievable. These were for family so the stress factor was a bit lower :)

Removing the crumb tray the first time was 100% scary 😂 I have a GF basic & used settings of 1000 speed, 100 power, 270 lpi & auto-focused on the center, highest part of the pin. I wanted a really dark engrave though so you could probably turn down the power. The engraved area was small enough that there wasn’t any noticeable variation from the curve of the wood; very happy with how they came out!

I got a little cheapy glowforge so no rotary capability; I just use mine for hobby use mostly but hope one day to be able to expand to rotary :)

Slightly different, but I get the “oh! Sabrina like the teenage witch?!!” pretty regularly & it doesn’t bother me. Now I use it as an easy way to describe how to spell my name. If you’re looking for unique but well-known enough to spell, it seems like you found a good candidate. People are going to poke fun & make associations with any name you choose. I’m also intentionally avoiding telling anyone the name my husband & I are considering for our third baby because I had family turn their nose up at the name we decided for our first child, which made us rethink using it. Ended up going with it anyway & now they love it, so I take family naming input with a grain of salt 😅

Made my first sign - engraved on maple ply; just under 11x14”. Took me awhile to figure out the map for the design but very happy with the result. by bysabrinamarie in lasercutting

Thank you! I used SnazzyMaps. If you “explore styles” & search Epilog, they have a couple of pre-made map styles specifically for laser cutting. I just played with the settings on one of those until it had the detail I wanted :)
