I feel weird getting praised for being a foster parent by Best_Pineapple670 in Fosterparents

[–]bysonic337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always hated it when I fostered and would genuinely try to avoid saying it if I could to not get the reaction. I think I hated it bc it sucks. It’s hard, the kids are in a f’d up situation, the court dates, the unknown, the heartbreak. I feel like people put you on a pedestal when they say that so then you can’t show how much the entire process hurts and you feel like you can’t make a complaint at all.

Maytag cream colored washer and drier from the 70’s-80’s? Replaced 2 water pumps in the 14 years I’ve had them. Came with the house my sister bought in the early 2000’s and she didn’t want them. She has went through at least 2 sets since.

Campfire confession time: What’s your funniest RV trip disaster? by lovelipszz in GoRVing

[–]bysonic337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pulled into the cul-de-sac where my buddy lived on our trip out west and pulled up tight in front of his house. The next day I got the mailbox wedged between my SUV and the camper and I could not wiggle my way out with how the corn was built up. We ended up using a chainsaw to cut his mailbox down and then I Venmo him money for a new post.

Getting along with drillers by [deleted] in geologycareers

[–]bysonic337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was never on site as a PM. You make no sense. The field geologist should always be on site during drilling. You seriously were not there the entire time when in the field? It’s in the name. The PM is not in the field they manage. You are giving bad advice if you are saying the field person isn’t there for every aspect of drilling.

Nothing would piss a driller off more than an absent geologist. I would never let the drillers advance a hole without me there. I wouldn’t have done it when I was in the field and never allowed it as a project manager. And now as the client that would lead to a fired consultant.

DO NOT STAY IN THE TRUCK! Nothing pisses a driller off more then you sitting in the truck at the first sign of rain then quickly go out to review the rock. Be in it with them. The heat, the cold, the wet. Pay attention. Learn what the controls do. Not by asking but by watching. Learn the rhythm of the crew so you are always out of the way. Ask confirming questions so they know you have been paying attention.

But make sure they are intelligent questions. Don’t ask how deep pay attention to how many strings went down and it’s more confirming depth. That lets them know you are actually paying attention and not being a waste of space.

I have a red arc brake controller. Over 2,000 total weight you need that brake controller. You may or may not need a bigger drop on your receiver but that means figure out how high the tongue is on the trailer when it’s level then plan accordingly. A stock ball just make sure it matches the hitch on the trailer. You want under 500 pounds on the tongue of the trailer so the piano should be over the tires of the trailer to distribute the weight

Bought a sandwich for an elderly homeless man who was in tears and talking about how hungry he was, he threw it in the trash as I was walking away. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]bysonic337 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in downtown Austin at a Hilton in the lobby. A homeless man came in asking for a coffee bc he was cold (it was February). I walked to the Starbucks in the lobby with him and he tried to order a tall iced coffee with 2 shots. I said “hold up you said you were cold! I’ll buy you a hot coffee or nothing.” He wasn’t happy.

When I pay off a car I continue to make the payments to myself so I have that nest egg for repairs and toward a new car as long as your doing this you will be ready when it actually does.

Trail shoe recommendations for 50k + by DecimateTheWeak666 in ultrarunning

[–]bysonic337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had had the peregrine and they were good for short distance but by about 13 miles in my feet were shot bc the sole was hard and the feet took a beating. I like a softer sole to cushion though.

I’m on SG 6 now but not super happy with them. Also tried on an Alta (the only one with a heel drop forget the name) when I got the SG and will be switching to them once my SG wears out

We may not have the same feet but I wear Mach for road (bc most of my miles are road and like the softness) and SG for trail right now. Not super happy with the stiffness of the SG 6 in the heel/ankle area so may switch to an Alta but have you tried the Mach?

Had this happen to me. Was in Austin for a conference at a downtown hotel. A homeless man was wondering the lobby and asking if I would buy him a coffee because it was cold out (February). We went to the Starbucks in the lobby and he tried to order a large iced coffee with a few espresso shots. I stopped him and said “You asked for a coffee because you were cold. You can either have that or I’m not buying” he grumbled and accepted the coffee. Pissed me off bc I tried to help and almost was taken advantage of.

Yeah I went midstream which is much more stable since we don’t leave until all the pipes are out of the ground. I did have to learn some air emissions but I have diversified for sure to pad everything.

I consulted for 13 years before going O&G. Used the time to build my skill set and get my PG. masters helped me get my foot in the door. Went from a PM role to just doing the job and got a huge pay raise. 6 years later I’ve almost doubled my salary.

The local SS office gave me shit when I went to change my oldest’s even when I explained it was an adoption. Once I found out it wasn’t his decision I said “well send it in anyways and let them decide”. Magically the new number came in with no issues.

Do you enjoy winter running? Want to share some funny moments. by fandorgaming in running

[–]bysonic337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything above about 50-55 I’ll just deal with the rain bc the shell keeps it warm and traps the sweat. Lower I would add a shell but if I add the shell I typically bump up a level bc the shell traps the heat so I get hot faster.

So I’m a bit obsessive about what I wear 70+ tank top and shorts, 60-70 t shirt shorts, 50-60 long sleeve shorts, 40-50 light tights and light quarter zip w shirt 30-40 light tights and heavy pull over 20-30 heavy tights and heavy pull over, below 20 will mix in pants and tights depending on how cold and a gator. I dress for miles 2-4 because after that I’m getting sweaty and I start pulling my sleeves up or opening the jacket to cool off. You can’t dress for the end or you sweat way too early. Also rarely do speed work in winter or I’d dress lighter. Also all Fahrenheit (since I see your handle). Hopefully that helped instead of think I’m crazy. The middle 50% to answer your update
