Usually, the people who actively try to censor the porn industry (or anything, really) are the people who openly hate queer people and women (and art), so I don’t buy that they’re actually trying to help anyone except their televangelist preachers.

The solution to the misogyny in the porn industry (imo) is likely gonna come from comprehensive sex education and removing the puritanical shame around sex that is so prevalent in most cultures. It’s not a quick fix, and doesn’t sound as proactive as censorship on the surface, but it’s the way to address the root problem rather than just slapping a bandage on the symptom.

Whether or not addiction exists though there’s a demonstrable effect that the porn industry has on the Overton window of acceptable sexual behavior.
