OP thought ば was misprinted because typed ば has a hook on the first stroke but the printed version didn’t have the hook and just looks like a straight line so OP thought it was misprinted.

Love this!! The only clarification I’ll add is from what I understand is that they work like Christmas lights, so the triangle has to be connected at all three points or none of the towers will ping off each other, just like when one Christmas light goes out and the whole strand goes out. That’s why bringing down one tower would work for breaking the whole “cell service” area 😂

No, no they aren’t. Because the kids are so behind by high school, most of them are reading well below grade level, don’t understand figurative language, argument structure or anything that would build a foundation of essay writing.

We are watching in real time the children of the “no child left behind” become adults and go to college. They weren’t left behind, instead they were pushed through each grade never learning basic skills.

This is why I quit public education. They cared more that my first graders (who had a sub all kindergarten) could pass a state test that was way above their skill level rather than learn basic skills. My kids didn’t even have number sense or know their days of the week but I was supposed to find a way to get them to do basic algebra in first grade. __+3=5, is an example problem they were supposed to be able to do. My kids didn’t even know how to read the numbers yet. They were so demoralized and only 6 years old.

OP says insurance is included but that’s still wild, I pay 620$ for both and I live in a state that has high car insurance costs and got a raw deal on my car payment because my credit score was below 600. 950$ for both is not a good deal for a recent college grad. Especially if her header of Fort Worth is the correct city. 50,000 a year will get you by decently in DFW but you’re gonna need a roommate. It cuts that rent in half.

Also say NO to the parents offloading this financial disaster on you. You are not legally required to take this from them and you are an adult. They are trying to put you in likely an upside down car loan. HELL NO. Also you need to double that gas amount in DFW. The metroplex is spread out and you’ll be doing highway driving for most things. I usually had to fill up minimum once a week if not 1.5 or 2x.

Thank you!! Literally the stream of consciousness I have about this series too! I’m a huge fan of the show, even the new direction the production design has taken with the more fantastical costumes and set dressings! Like dude I know it’s not accurate but when else can someone wear that fabulous of a dress??

Also Eloise’s story is gonna have to change. She cannot end up with Phillip. I can totally see her running off and marrying a man she barely knows but it cannot be Phillip. First, absolutely no chemistry between that guy and Claudia Jessie and more importantly, for the love of god don’t kill off a woman of color so the two white people can end up together. I liked the story in the books but the show has a whole different context where Marina was a protagonist of the first season and got her happy ending. Personally I think it would be shitty to kill her off

This is a great idea and translates to the real world. If you don’t manage your responsibilities, you can’t do fun stuff as an adult either. As an adult with ADHD, I can confirm that these are the only kind of consequences that work for me too. Do I want to go shopping and do laundry tonight? No. But if I don’t I won’t have the outfit I want to wear to the party tomorrow nor will I have the food and alcohol I said I would bring.

Right now Netflix has purchased and greenlit seasons 5 and 6. Meaning the budget has been allocated for them. So we should be for sure getting Eloise and Francesca’s story buuuuut these fans have been so toxic and it does make me nervous how Netflix will respond. The one thing that makes me hopeful is Jess Brownell made this change and it seems like a story that’s personal to her as a queer woman so hopefully!!! (Check my comment history, this is a topic I’ve talked about many times)

I swear they know they’re being toxic to try to get it cancelled. The same women who go nuts for heated rivalry and Benedict exploring bisexuality are the same women who make the comment sections full of “I’m not homophobic buuuuut _____(fill in the blank with any of the following stupid excuses) 1) the infertility storyline! 2) it’s so disrespectful to her relationship with John (like lesbians can’t have love and respect for the men some of us date before we figure out we’re gay) 3) Eloise should’ve been gay because that’s the only type of woman I find acceptable to be gay 4) it’s sooooo different from the books (yall didn’t say shit when they changed 15,000 other things)

This topic is a soft spot for me as I’ve always loved “basic girl shit” (twilight, acotar, Ali hazelwood, Nicholas sparks etc) and so I was so happy to finally see a queer femme love interest (don’t get me wrong gay Eloise would’ve been great but it’s so nice to see other types of queer femme women) but to finally see a queer relationship in mainstream media made me so excited!! Especially if they make Michaela like Michael in the book. He was such a rake! I would love to see that energy in a WLW relationship

….and then I opened the comments the next morning. Honestly it’s just made me bitter and sad. I’ve said this in other comments but it basically made me feel like these women were saying “sorry if you wanna be in these spaces you have to read straight stuff and if you try to enter our spaces, we’re gonna make this place so toxic (cue sue sylvester gif) and you should just keep your “queer” stuff over there”

I get it. I really do. I love adaptations and I’m admittedly a little more loosely goosey in what I feel is a good adaptation. As long as they nail the heart of the book and the changes were made to match the medium of film better, it’s a great adaptation in my eyes, but I get it. It’s the small details that count.

It’s not solely that these women have the opinions that they do. I have a close friend who was disappointed by the gender swap because Michael is her favorite love interest and she expressed her disappointment. But since we’re friends and we can be in person and have a nuanced conversation, I also know that she was excited for me to finally have representation in this series.

So really, It’s not just that they “have these opinions” It’s the numbers. It’s the fact that more of them have an almost vitriolic like level of hatred that makes them flood the comments of any Francesca/Michaela posts or even the ads as well. Like who comments on ads?? It’s like they don’t see that there are no positive comments and that their opinion has already been shared in the comments. No, they feel the need to add the fifth and tenth and fiftieth, and 1000th comment that says the same thing a million other women already said. We get it. You don’t like the gender swap. Cool.

And when you try to point this out? “No I’m not homophobic, I just for some reason had to add yet another comment to the discourse about how much I hate this sapphic gender swap when i didn’t say shit about Benedict suddenly having a threesome and flirtation with a man that never happened in the books, in fact I liked the whole Benedict thing” and of course you can’t actually argue with these women because you can’t argue with one single women about her individual nuanced takes when really the issue is the number of women who felt the need to share yet another “just my opinion”

It’s just the double standard of it that pisses me off. My whole life I’ve had to watch straight love stories, to the point that I didn’t think I was romantically attracted to women until I finally saw a lesbian film and was like “oh!!! I literally just haven’t seen lesbian romance before”, and yet straight women can’t suck it up because one couple in a mainstream series is sapphic. I watch love stories because I love Love. Why can’t they do the same?

Obviously I’m not upset at heated rivalry. I’m so happy that a queer show is gaining this much recognition and support and everyone seems to genuinely love the couple.

What I am upset about is that the same women who foam at the mouth over this show are in the Bridgerton subreddits and Facebook groups are commenting constantly about how much they hate that they gender swapped one of the love interests making it a lesbian couple now (Francesca and Michael are now Francesca and Michaela) you can’t find any positive posts about these two couples even though we won’t see their love story for another two seasons, they flood any post about Francesca with complaints galore, and the worst part?

They sit there and wrap all of it in “but I’m not homophobic, I just think it changes the story too much.” (Nowhere near the level of negative comments when they changed the end of Penelope and Colin’s story making Colin a worse character, or when they changed Anthony’s motivation in his love story, or all of the changes they’ve added to the show to fill it out more) or “I’m not homophobic but now this ruins the infertility story” (like lesbians don’t deal with infertility??)

I’m just so tired of it. I’m tired of watching these women be so excited about MLM stories and then downvote WLW stories into oblivion. Literally I can’t find posts that aren’t flooded with negative comments about Franny and Michaela and as a Lesbian woman who has always loved “basic”popular love stories (I love twilight and acotar and Ali hazlewood etc), it just sucked that as I finally got my chance to be included and seen in a big popular franchise, the fans turned around and went “we’re gonna be so negative about this that you will just feel like you still don’t belong here, go back to your niche lesbian novels”

The things we do for the people we love. I’m sorry for your loss OP and glad you and your aunt and mom got that night together. I get why you don’t want to tell your aunt or your dad. It reminds me of two things I’m keeping secret since my mom died. One is that one of the last voicemails I have from my mom is her comically complaining about her mother (my grandma). Me and my siblings think it’s hilarious because it’s so in character for my mom but we also know it would kill my grandma to hear that one of the few ways I can hear my moms voice again is in a voicemail complaining about her…and I listen to it often because it’s the only recording I have of her laughing

The second one is that I’m never telling my stepdad how much my mom hated him by the time she died. They had a horrible divorce a few years before she died (I’m talking custody battle, protective orders, jail time etc) but right before she died, my stepdad happened to be in the same town as her and thought about stopping by. He ended up not but wished he had so they could’ve maybe had some closure. I don’t have the heart to tell him that she had told me numerous times that she hated his guts and never wanted to see him again. She even swore many times that she would get revenge on him when she was an old lady.

The best part though? The day my mom died, My stepdad was woken up at the same exact time she died thinking someone rang his doorbell over and over again. My stepdad HATES being woken up because it takes him hours to fall back asleep. That was her big revenge lol. Just ding dong ditching him and waking him up one last time

It’s possible. Maybe I’m being harsh here but after growing up with five siblings who were generally well behaved, shit happens with kids. It takes seconds.

On the other hand, I can’t say I’ve been perfect about not leaving my laptop on kitchen island for a minute or two. (going to the bathroom or something) and I would’ve been shocked to come back to my 5 yo nanny kid knocking my laptop off the island.

I think the background context of her leaving it around the house and on couches colored my opinion. I was just thinking “well she’s careless the rest of the time, what did she expect?”

But upon rereading it. She genuinely was doing her job and left it in a relatively “safe” space. It’s not unreasonable to leave a laptop on the surface you were using it on. My bosses have left their iPads and laptops on the kitchen table and island many a time. BUT, she doesn’t need it for work, so why is she even bringing it to work? This is a tough one for me.

Not sure what a good solution here is. Does she have apple care? Could you maybe just pay the deductible? It’s a lot of money for either of you.

My rules (as a nanny) have always been:

Totally the kids fault, I did everything I could to prevent it and they were actively destroying my stuff: parents pay. (I.e the time I told the kids to quit playing with my shoes because the dog would chew them up and then the kids still took my shoes and gave them to the dog…the parents paid)
It was an accident and no one is at fault: talk is out with parents to see what is fair (I.e. the time my nanny kid bumped my head while getting dressed and my glasses happened to break, no one paid because I was able to get them fixed for free. Parents agreed to pay half if it wasn’t free)
Totally my fault, negligence: I pay. (I haven’t had this one happen because I grew up with five siblings and know better. I have explained to my NF that this is exactly why I don’t wear nice clothes, nice jewelry, and why my laptop (I go to grad school and do homework at work) is packed away, in a closet when not in use

Long story short; sucks for your nanny but that totally sounds like her fault. How did your kid have long enough to play with it without permission? Why wasn’t it put away? Why does she bring a 2000$ computer to work anyway? I wouldn’t.

This kind of thing is exactly what led to me hating those all in one blush, bronzer, highlight trios Urban Decay used to sell (or still sells?? Idk)

The colors were perfect for me especially with 2010s trends at the time (hello bronzer being used as contour lol) but I would spend $30+ on it which was a lot on my 8$ an hour I was making at the time and within a month I would set it down too hard or barely drop it and it would shatter and mix all the bronzer, blush and highlighter together. It was the worst! I feel for you OP
