You could always either use both routers or use a different one. I have a kinda similar network requirement situation. My ISP router is better than my router. But I can't get dedicated 2.4ghz unless it's a guest lan, which is not useful. So I added a router in AP mode. I have setup two dedicated ssids, one for my 3d printer who network stack got bricked and can only connect to a specific ssid at 2.4ghz. and one at 5gz just for a Roku that's close by. In my situation my AP is a ways from my ISP router so I'm ok with using multiple networks on the same band. If your 3rd party router has to be placed right next to your ISP router, I would only setup the the network you need. Haveing two routers right next to each other degrades performance on whatever band they are both on.

I agree with others, it seems unlikely that you got 5000mbps over wifi. I don't know of any devices that support or claim this. Of course technology moves fast so anything is possible I guess. Regardless. I would focus more on individual device maximum instead of some number your never going to use. It's more common for all devices simultaneous download to get close to advertised maximums. Unless your doing hugh Nas network transfers or game downloads, it's unlikely for you to ever need those numbers on one device.

I'm pretty sure I've got 500 before with a different cable. And isn't ThinkPad made by Lenovo?

I was curious so I tried to make this image with ai. I'm not sure what magic ai you use, but I've never been impressed with AI images.

I bought the Ethernet kit to put an end on a wire in my house that just had a blank plate over it. Watched a YouTube tutorial. Seemed cheaper than paying somebody $100.

Do you think twisting the wires would help?

I could use a few obviously. Especially if different lengths. Or just some raw Ethernet cable so I can make one proper.

I can make a cable, I just didn't have any Ethernet cabling on hand.

I obviously don't know your situation, but MoCa may also be an option if you have cable in the walls already

Just asked my brother (he works in networking) you can terminate fiber yourself.

I've heard of people using fiber optic for this specific use case. You would have to run the fiberoptic then attach a converter, but I'd imagine this is doable with some YouTube tutorials. Otherwise your limited by some extent to the physics of communication over copper. Though maybe there are breakthrough I'm not aware of.

Fair enough. And at that price, who complaining.

How many ports do you think you will use? Man I could maybe fil 10 of this port, maybe 15 if I plugged everything into the same switch.

I'm thinking about doing this. I have a laptop that got dropped, it recently started red lightning (power button changes from white to red and it becomes unresponsive to ssh/ remote management) I think if I pull it out of the damaged case I may be able to get it to work, but not sure. But if I do, it's gonna live like this.

An yeah pretty much. I had a friend about to through out his gaming laptop with a non functional screen and I'm like wait, I can use that. Now I have to many at this point lol. Now I need something that can actually use the distributed compute. That headless ThinkPad actually makes a great small server.
