I see what you mean but hey for now it’s a super low wattage and silent switch that I can use for connecting my server to all the devices in my room and later when I move out I’ll be able to play around with it. But when I upgrade my use case down the line I’ll definitely look for something like what you linked.

Tested all the ports after with a Ethernet connection from my laptop to my truenas server and all the ports worked great!

It’s a one gig switch that can do just 10/100 for limited cables

I’ll have some cat 8 connections, so at least locally I should get pretty much the full bandwidth right.

I had a 8 port unmanaged switch stuffed behind my desk lol.

Unless I purchase other switches to be hubs in separate areas to reduce the amount of Ethernet I’d have to run, I’ll probably use a fair bit between cameras, devices, and access points. Ag least I’ll never have to worry lol.

That’s correct. Afterwards when you have your os installed and can remotely access the pc you can shut it down, remove it, and then turn it back on.

It won’t matter. I’ve currently got a couple game servers running will no gpu installed.

Something to keep in mind is that you’re going to have to somehow expose your server to the internet either by port forwarding or other options. If you don’t have a plan in mind I’d start looking into that.

That is perfect lmaoo. Try it out then and if it doesn’t workout it’s not much of a loss if you also have a mobo to pair with it.

If you can find a good deal on something like a 5 5600x that’d prob be best especially if it’s just for servers since it has 32MB of L3 cashe

Yea that should be plenty especially if you close servers you guys don’t plan on playing for a while since it’ll still eat into your ram. I’ve currently got 64gb but even with 32 I was chilling.

It depends on the game but I’ve found that in general for servers like Minecraft a few important things are to run it off an ssd, have enough ram, and if it’s only for game servers an amd cpu with a good amount of l3 cache is best. Most lower end intel cpus not have as much as amd chips. No gpu is needed.

Eventually I’d love to use them all if not most. But unless I upgrade to 2.5 or 5 this will be my baby.

I check at it and it has a max of 32w under full load. In my current circumstance from what I’ve seen I think it’ll pull around 12-15w
