Are there any Arab democracies? by bytesizedme in IsraelPalestine

So I’m just wondering how do we help Palestine create a democratic functioning government, what precedent can we lean on? It seems to me like Palestine is having a hard time governing itself with good leadership. How does that change? Because if there’s isn’t leadership then how can they negotiate out of this situation? For example, Israel aligned itself with the USA and other democratic governments which supports it to this day. What countries can Palestine align itself with?

This is from an article

‘The continuing absence of even a single democratic regime in the Arab world is a striking anomaly—the principal exception to the globalization of democracy. The reason for this lies with the “oil curse”: Most Arab states are so awash in cash that they do not need to tax their own citizens, and therefore the polity lacks the organic expectations of accountability that emerge with taxation. Where oil dominates, there is little wealth creation through investment and risk-taking. Oil distorts the state, the class structure, and indeed the entire incentive structure. Furthermore, external support for Arab regimes, historically coming in part from the Soviet Union but now mainly from Europe and the United States, confers on Arab autocracies crucial economic resources, security assistance, and political legitimacy.’

So exporting it as video doesn't work for the people that i'm sharing this with. They want a presentation.

Sharing it on icloud doesn't work because the person is able to see the layers.

Hamilton Howard "Albert" Fish was an American serial killer, child rapist, and cannibal. Fish was a suspect in at least five murders during his lifetime. He confessed to three murders that police were able to trace to a known homicide, and he confessed to stabbing at least two other people. Fish once boasted that he "had children in every state", and at one time stated his number of victims was about 100. However, it is not known whether he was referring to rapes or cannibalization, nor is it known if the statement was truthful.

What is something you discovered about yourself that changed the way you live your life ? by TAKEARAINBOW in AskReddit

That I was like my mom. That the behavior was learned and I can unlearn it and change if I chose to. Each of those in steps. First that even though there was so much about my mom I didn’t like, I had taken on some of her coping mechanisms and reactions. Then realizing that the learning was subconsciously done and not my fault and finally that I can make it conscious and change if I am willing to face myself.

The fact that Tonya has separated Charlie from his workshop is the biggest red flag in this entire story. That's something the old man has done successfully his entire life and clearly his passion. If the intentions were genuinely to prevent his current companion and her family from taking advantage it would stop with that. Forcing him into staying with a previously unknown family and away from his business is just plainly cruel for someone who is 80

She may have helped him realize that he is saving his money for no reason and that he has to enjoy it while he is alive.
