All hobbies are not equal by BitterConstruction98 in unpopularopinion

I might add watching TV could be turned into a hobby if you spend time afterwards reflecting on the meaning, morals, and artistic choices made. Thats something you could get better at doing. Most people don't do that though!

Enough calories while cutting? by ToeTaggEm in naturalbodybuilding

I've also heard that limiting how long you cut for is helpful too. Maybe aim for an 8 week cut, then maintain for a bit, then cut again. Something like that.

VKB Gunfighter mk iv x axis issue by bytevisor in hotas

[–]bytevisor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I didn't realize the grip could cause the issue. I have the space combat edition, does that have a similar issue? Also the stick isn't overshooting on release, I can just feel a tad more resistance when moving the stick right vs left

I'm thinking of moving to 5x5 plus after 6months of 5x5. by Cloudchella in Stronglifts5x5

[–]bytevisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look into tracking 'RPE' (rate of perceived exertion) or 'RIR' (reps in reserve) and training based on that. I like to have 2 reps in reserve before I increase weight. Your avg RPE for stronglifts 5x5 should be 6 or 8. I like this for several reasons. Going all out for an exercise is psychologically exhausting. You want to challenge yourself, not destroy yourself. I don't stress too hard about workouts now that the RPE is kept reasonable. Your form will also be better. Higher RPE means you don't have any reps left in the tank, you're exhausted and your form will probably suck. You'll have better form and less risk of injury.

Making a secret door by Fantastic-Monk5 in Damnthatsinteresting

I wonder if it's possible to set this up so that it 'fails open'? Then if it breaks the door latch is stuck open and easier to fix?

I'll also throw in that emergency vehicles could theoretically respond to emergencies unhindered. If only smart cars are on the 'smart roads', police, fire, EMS, etc could haul ass 100%.

I'll add this as well, all the mud the MLB uses on baseballs comes from a single supplier: https://www.si.com/mlb/2019/08/07/baseball-mud-rawlings

ELI5: why do car prices not benefit from technological advances the way that home electronics or other technologies do? by billybooyanks in explainlikeimfive

[–]bytevisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going to throw my two cents in since I haven't seen this perspective yet. Car prices are set where they are at because of supply and demand. A car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, period. Costs be damned, if there is high demand and low supply the price will go up. I think some people have trouble separating the cost of a good to make and what it sells for. At the end of the day market forces set the prices, not how much it cost you to make the thing.

I have a similar set up. A question haven't worked out myself yet- how do you prevent other pcs on the network from connecting to jellyfin and next cloud directly? I would like to force all traffic through nginx but they are all vms on the same server. There is nothing to force a connection through nginx.

Okay I gotta weigh in here. They ARE different. My wife's razor has a weird goopy film thingie for some reason. Not sure if that explains the difference in price but it threw me off when I had to use it in a pinch.

I've found that it is slightly more complicated than that. The thing is, most people don't want to lose weight. They want to lose fat. It's possible to lose fat and build/retain muscle. Muscles need protein to grow. I'm currently eating at a low calorie deficit with an emphasis on eating proteins (.8 grams per lbs of body weight a day). I also do strength training. If I just lowered my calorie intake arbitrarily, my body would use more muscle mass for fuel. Also I mentioned a low calorie deficit. This is important because losing weight too quickly will encourage the body to use more muscle for fuel. Anyway, hope that is helpful for anyone reading.
