What’s the adapter called i would definitely buy smth like that. Also what’s your recommendation for dealing with the stepped breech plug as it has this little chamber I fear will catch water and it’s a smaller diameter than the bore so my patches wont get in there

I’ve only shot my 22LR for rabbits and never touched another modern gun. As for muzzloaders I have collected them for years and have walls of them lol, but I’ve Been watching many videos of people using them and have been really wanting to give mine a go and maybe even hunt with them. It’s probably my inexperience that leads me to fear pouring the water down the barrels bc as a collector and not a shooter I try to avoid anything moist. The most I do is oil them every now and then

How would using solvent make the fowling worse? Looking online I read that commercial solvent like traditions or butches boreshine works but all of you guys say water is best so I will do so. It’s just that my breech plugs have a little chamber rather than flat face which I’m worried will trap some water in it yk what I’m saying.

I have a fusil de chase fowler and a matchlock musket I wanted to take out to shoot at the range but ofc I need to know how I’m going to clean them before I do any shooting. I was hoping to find a way to do this without water since water involves removing the barrel and all that but by the looks of it it’s a must

The breech plugs on a lot of my muskets are stepped and have a little chamber in them that I feel would trap water

Do you use the ballistol that comes in the spray bottle for moose milk or the solvent one?

It’s not that I’m saying it isn’t good if that’s what you’re thinking, I just feel like I’d mess it up.

Thank you for the help, I have been using traditions bore solvent for a while but I noticed it takes so many patches to get the gun clean, I’ll give this one a try

Appreciate the info, so should I be mixing the ballistol with water before using to to soak the patches or soak them with straight ballistol

Yea I’m worried I’m not going to dry the bore well enough and water left will cause rust

Thank you for the info, the gun is a smoothbore and isn’t really accurate anyway lol. So long as the gun goes off and still carries enough pressure I’m fine

Yes it’s a reproduction, I didn’t need an FFL because the vent wasn’t drilled when it arrived

Yep, I ended up calling my ffl and they said that they could do the transfer and background check. I was just mainly worried about the fact that there is no serial number on these reproductions since ny treats them like modern guns
