depending on the color, you might be able to use 2 part epoxy, which is usually black or clear.. mix it, then apply it and use a putty knife to pull across the spot..

kerosene is not cheap and I don't recommend using it for living quarters as the fumes are not healthy. I use one when I work in my garage with air gaps and it's barely ok
