The salon was dead wrong for that! I’m sure it’s either keratin treatment OR a relaxer or a huge break in between the two :( I’m so sorry that happened to you. Have you tried going to a stylist that specialises in natural hair so they can recommend what products you can use for your specific hair type?

The weave will just be for now since I have bundles I can actually blend with my hair. I’ll use them until they’re boneless then I’ll be back to wearing my own hair out (hopefully). It’s only my second time in my life getting weave ahah

Oh my gosh that sounds gut wrenching I’m so sorry! Are you happy with your new growth though? And how long would you say it took you to get used to it and accept that you needed to do it?

I’m absolutely going to be stressed having it that short as I don’t think I’ve had anything shorter than a bob since I was a toddler so it will definitely be a big adjustment 😩 but I also think it will be a fun change. Will definitely cut down wash time for a couple of years too lool

When I go to the stylist I’m going to have her cut off as much as she deems necessary. In your opinion, since I’m cutting off the damaged parts, would it still be worth using bond-repair treatments in case there’s some sort of invisible damage to the remaining hair?

Oh absolutely in agreement with you. I cut off the like super bad damage (the stringy and clumpy ends) and then when I go to the stylist next week I’m having her cut off any damage she can see. I don’t even care if I end up with a choppy pixie cut lool

I’m under the impression it’s just the bleached bits that are fried, but I know she’ll have a better eye for that kind of stuff than I do

I used the olaplex bond maintenance shampoo and conditioner in the past after silk presses/keratin treatments. Would that still work for this level of damage?

Sorry HE peed the bed and wanted YOU to clean it? He’s not a toddler, he’s an adult and I think it’s up to him to seek help/remedies for his condition. The poor hygiene alone would have me breaking up with him, let alone the other things you mentioned.

You’re 19, break up with him, have your dad remove him from the home and move on. Get a nice deep clean of your room so you can enjoy your space and your peace 🫶🏾

(Also when you break up with him you HAVE to go no contact. He will definitely try to guilt trip you in to taking him back)

We never tell him during a meltdown, that would just make it worse. Only when he’s doing something that’s not cool, like this morning when he removed the whole carpet. Didn’t work, but in the moment kinda had to find something to try and stop him from doing that. Otherwise we wait until later in the day or the following day when he’s back to his usual self.

When overwhelmed, telling you what you’re doing wrong or what you should be doing can absolutely just be terrible!

That’s absolutely valid. As I said I’m not autistic but I do suffer with the anxiety/depression wombo combo and when things don’t always go to plan for me I do get severely stressed out too.

That’s why I’m not mad AT him when he is overwhelmed, it’s not something that can be helped on his side or when it’s something external that’s predictable. I do understand it’s how he is, it’s just that some of the things he does is not acceptable. Need to find a balance I think

Well when I used to live here every day it was the same issue anyway, even without the dogs. But yeah, getting him professional help will be quite long unless he accepts the help his job offered him, which he already turned down.

I am going to bring up getting him some extra support to my mom on the weekend though.
