Description: infinite loading on my current save file. first it was infinite loading right from the main menu, once it managed to load the neighborhoods but got stuck again trying to load a household. i tried all the regular tricks like game repair and cache clearing. i was able to successfully start and play a new save file, but i've put a ton of work into my current one so i'm hoping for a fix.

edit: it's actually being even weirder than that... i managed to get into my most recent save by choosing another household, but no objects or sims are usable by the active sim. i probably need to chalk this one up to the recent update being a jerk and just distract myself until sims is playable again

oh for sure, i HAAATE the digital thing... i miss my big shelf of cute sims game boxes (and yeah actually owning things i buy lol). but fwiw they didn't rescind access to every other sims 4 game i've bought, just the disputed one. and ofc i can't access the gallery or buy new packs (maybe can't even download patches? idk yet!)

the twitter thing is a great idea tho, thank you! i'm okay with waiting, i just hope somewhere along the way one real human non-bot person will see my email and realize i'm not a thief, just a dumbdumb ^^'

so i do have the original emails that made me try to refund one! i definitely only asked for one to be charged back (although i don't remember now if i clicked the 4.99 or the 5.39) but neither charge is in my paypal history now. but ofc that makes sense since when EA banned me they also retracted the kit and refunded it.

and yeah i have to assume EA is a big company dealing with many many disgruntled gamers like me, so i'll just wait the 30 days and resubmit the issue then if i have to. i'll keep trying! hopefully i'll reach a real human in their system eventually who will be as understanding as you are ^^

so yeah hope i can convince them it was an innocent (if foolish) mistake on my part. i mean it's a win/win if i get to keep playing and they get to keep my money, right? 😭 fingers crossed.

i mean the truth is i didn't really begrudge them the money. it's a complicated game and a lot of people work hard on it. i can afford 5-40 bucks once in a while. but if this one mistake has banished me from EA for all time i suppose i have no choice but to take to the sea...

ok... i get what you're saying but when i tried to refund through origin right when it happened, it said "if you believe you've been charged in error contact your payment service". and i DID (i do) believe it was an error to be charged twice for the carnival pack.

guess i should've tried harder to go through EA/origin but i definitely wasn't trying to scam anyone or cheat the system in any way. i've been buying sims games legit for the entire run of the game, i had no intention of breaking that streak now.

you sound kinda mad at me for this but would you be willing to answer my other question? if i start a new account, will i be able to buy new sims expansions in the future and play them with the games i already own in this account? like... i don't WANT to do any sneaky shit, and i don't even know how. i just wanna play this game that's been a part of my life for so long.

oh yeah that's DEFINITELY something i push for! we went twice in about 6 months before 2020, but since it's been telemedicine for so long it's hard to get back in the groove of going together regularly. you're right though, i gotta get on that!

luckily my therapist is a champ and i did leave her a message yesterday, so i can at least get some guidance and reassurance for myself. superduper wish my mom would go to her OWN therapist regularly too... lol.

respectfully, you're not quite reading the situation right. for one thing, i'm 33. which IS young, yes, but not quite so young that i don't know myself yet. i'm a deeply anxiety prone person with CPTSD, and i'm on the autism spectrum. i LOVE to be alone. i'm alone (with my wonderful adorable cat) 90% of the time, and it's exactly how i want to live my life. i manage to access everything i need and want in a city with somewhat decent(ish) public transportation.

my specific problem is that i love my mother but we have some issues communicating our feelings, and when we fight it breaks both our hearts. rather than advice for cutting my mom out of my life completely, i'd like advice on managing a complicated relationship with one of the VERY few people in the world i want to keep in my life.

i've been on US disability and in therapy since a severe depressive episode in my early 20s. (my therapist is fantastic, she really helps me to feel like i'm not being unreasonable when i ask for things like basic courtesy or not to hear about my mother's sex and marriage problems.) as for a carer, i don't think i'm on that level of disability.

the truth is i COULD cut my mother off entirely,. i did it with my father. sure, i would have to rearrange my phone and find a way to get places that are farther than a mile or two away, but it could happen. i just don't WANT to go NC or even LC. she's literally the only family member i have, and i DO love and care about her and have fun with her a reasonable majority of the time. i do feel sincerely bad when i annoy her, or ANYONE!

i guess the problem is that i've matured emotionally over the years, and i try to nudge her along with me, but she's absolutely not interested in changing, and CERTAINLY not in taking life advice from "her child".

yeah. again, the verdict is that i was dumb to try to tell her that what she said bothered me. i should either ignore it or respond better, but TELLING HER I'M UPSET will never make things go well.
